what 6x9's would you suggest for this setup??

Recently had my car broken into at work...

So insurance paid me for the value of my equipment, minus the amp. They are sending me a Rockford Fosgate P325.2 325 Watt 2-Channel Amp. I'm driving around wi8th the stock HU (yuk!).

I'm going to get the Alpine DVA-9861 and don't want to put another enclosure in the trunk.

The amp's ratings are listed as : 80W x 2 @ 4-Ohms RMS
160W x 2 @ 2-Ohms RMS
325W x 1 @ 4-Ohms bridged RMS

I'm thinking to hook up the amp to 2 6x9's on the rear deck but would like some suggestions as to what to get. I like rock, techno, rap, and 80's (lol!) if that helps. Eventually I'm going to replace the front speakers as well but for now i'd like to put the amp they're sending me to good use...

thanks in advance!

get 6 1/2's, 6x9's are fundamentally flawed...anyway, sucks that someone broke into your ride

not sure, just making an observation about 6x9s, but I'm sure you could do the swap, not sure how easy it would be. I can't imagine it would be that difficult if you are mechanically inclined at all. If you decided to swap em make a DIY though.

i'll keep it in mind. I know the easiest way would be to machine a bracket adapter or something but I haven't looked at the rear deck in years, not sure how much room there is to play with...

Re: what 6x9's would you suggest for this setup??

you should consider replacing the fronts instead with components like the polk db6500s they are $150 right now at crutchfield and your amp would provide enough power to them.

lol .. Thats a very good question ... I have the type S in my car and the quality is just awesome.

Well 2 years ago I was getting rid of my stock speakers and throwing some aftermarket ones. I have a manager friend at best buy, After checking out all the brands and **** I fell in love with the Alpin Type R;s and S.

Now came the pain, when i read the price tag. At that time the Type R's were like $299 listed and after friends discount n stuff $225 I had no other choice but to go with the Type S ones which i got for like $99.

So now for the topic maker, I dont know how much he can spend or what .. So i gave him the option of both. If u can pay for the Type R's go for em .... if ur like me ... trust me the type S are not too bad.

These speakers sound good without an amplifier. But with an amp connected to em, they are just Krazy man !

Re: what 6x9's would you suggest for this setup??

if you are getting an Alpine HU....DEF get Alpine Type-R's to go with it....and especially since they are going to be powered by an amp....I have Type R's in front doors and the rear deck with an Alpine HU and they simply amazing....no complaints about them what so ever

Re: what 6x9's would you suggest for this setup??

If you're getting 6x9's i'd go with the infinity 3-way.

If you're getting your 6.5's for upfront, go with the infinity 2-way.

I've heard nothing bad about those speakers, and they both fit your price range i believe.

Re: what 6x9's would you suggest for this setup??

look at gearbox stereo gyuide for some info and also what you can do is go into a best buy or cur city and play with there speakers. or another thing you can do is ask some of your friend with systems and ask them what they think.

one more thing having a alpine hu and speakers does not equal a good system. for these things it all matters on taste and money and like gearbox says how it installed.

one last think go on some of the audio site and look for which gear people are using.for me i am going for a full comp system made by rainbow

Re: what 6x9's would you suggest for this setup??

the only decent 6x9's that fit without removing the trunk opener bar thingy were the type R's. if you are looking for something less expensive, I would suggest Clarion. If you have a local dealer, I would suggest checking some of their stuff out, it isn't bad at all, it's what my subs are, and they pound like crazy. Their head units are not too bad for the price either.
