OEM CD player w/iPod

I'm going to keep my oem CD player throw throw the disc changer at a tree and plug an iPod into it. The question is how? I've looked on here for a DIY. I have an 02 EX with the cd player and the disc changer underneath it, I havn't had it apart yet and I've called around and searched theres a company called peripheral that intigrates iPods into factory stereos..... yah for the price you'd pay to have a whole new deck installed. But I really like the stock deck and if worst comes to worst I'll get a cheaper JVC with an input in the front. Has anyone on here used there oem cd player to plug and Ipod into the back? No im not gonna det a FM transmiter cuz they sound like *** or any other crappy connection. I'm just wondering what adapters people used and how it's done with my cd player. Thanks

Re: OEM CD player w/iPod

yeah, you can get that peripheral thing but for not much more you can get a new deck. if you have a coupe with the red interior lighting, most sony xplod stereos still look smooth in the dash.

and FM transmitters FTL.

Re: OEM CD player w/iPod

Yah man got the red interior lighting I kinda want to stay stock just because in the past I've gotten aftermarket cd players and the speakers sounded like *** but before that they sounded nice. I'm not a huge I.C.E person so im not to bright in the area. Yah screw the peripheral thing though thats way to much just to plug a damn iPod in.

Re: OEM CD player w/iPod

yea man i know what u mean. i prefer my stock stereo, it just looks cleaner. theres no way u can make an aftermarket deck look as clean as it does now. probably cuz of that stupid angled dash thing and how its almost molded in perfectly. i would love to hook up my ipod but have given up looking for a way to do it thats actually worth it. my friend just got a nicccee sony deck and it blends well with his itnereior lighting and wokrs great with the ipod. only problem is u have it as long as ur ipod can stay on. it wont charge.

Re: OEM CD player w/iPod

I got this for my car it works great and you just plug it into the pulg where the cd changer would go. the factory radio lets you select cd changer and like magic you ipod works in your car and sounds great.

yuo thats the one i have and it works great. If you pick it up from crutchfiel it will come with full installation instructions. you will also need a cable to go from the converter to your i pod . Downside for you is that you have to get rid of your changer. It uses the factory changer plug.

Re: OEM CD player w/iPod

Some cars come with a factory disc changer below the OEM CD player, yours still might have a plug in for one im sure its the same cd player call the dealer and give him your info on ur car to see if its the same player.

Re: OEM CD player w/iPod

true life^ i know tons of people that use sony head units. and other things. i myself have a a single 12 from sony in a custom box and a fine tuned amp and it bumps harder than any rich kid with 2 JLs in a cute plexiglass box with neons inside. its about how u work with these subs. i think sony knows what theyre doing when they sell things. just liek apple. they sell u something that works good only with something else from the same company. its a marketing strategy. and if u take theyre advice...it usually wont come out bad. mine didnt!

Re: OEM CD player w/iPod

Hey I got one more question. I just heard on my local forum that a guy bought one for his girls cobalt and he said it reduced the volume dramtically to where you would have to crank your stereo all the way up to the max just to get a medium sound volume is this true of our CD players? Thanks

Re: OEM CD player w/iPod

I have that for mine, but i took it out cause im using a drive and play.
http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piehon98pcpod2.html it works great and is actually really cool. i have 2. one that uses the CD changer controls or one that allows you to also use your ipod while its connected. both use the trk up and down to select songs. along with random and repeat. if your interested let me know. i have no use for them anymore.

You have to adjust your ipod and your factory radio. i put the volume on my ipod all the way up and then adjust the sound from my factory deck. it sounds great you barely have to turn it up. and it sounds awsome!!
