I put a Versa double din radio into my Civic...
...And it didn't come out too bad either IMO. Only problem is that I couldn't figure out how to illuminate the backlight for the buttons. There are some empty pins on the harness, but none of them seem to work when I tried to power them up. I liked the look of it because it is black, and I had the SE head unit in before but the silver didn't go too well with the interior.
Anyway the Versa radio had all the features that I wanted... 6 CD/MP3, aux input, RDS and it sounded really good too. If anyone else thinks they want to try this in their car their going to need to get a harness for the radio Metra 71-7552 (Nissan Maxima/Versa harness) and an antenna adapter 40-NI22. I then made a little trim ring to fill in the gap around the radio (since it was smaller). The radio screws in using the factory honda brackets. You're gonna have to figure out how to illuminate the buttons though, I gave up on it...
I am going to get something else...
Anyway time for the pics...

The buttons would have matched the dash lights really well...

wow great job! looks way better than the silver stock one. and imo it looks cleaner at night without all the tons of buttons lighting up.

did you get it for really cheap or something?
wouldn't the special edition civic deck give you the same thing and be a lot easier to install?

I had the SE Head unit before and wasn't digging the silver. I wanted to try something different and came across a Versa Radio. It's just like installing an aftermarket deck, with a little custom work. Just thought I'd show you all something different.

. I have thrown everything in the book at it to try to get the buttons to illuminate, but no dice. In the factory Nissan Versa radio harness there is a wire that is for illumination (orange), well I tried putting 12V to the empty pin in the aftermarket harness, and well no luck. There are like 3 other plugs that are empty that could contain the illumination wire, but there are so many variables involved. Like it could be a negative switch or something...I dunno, I hate Nissan electrical stuff...lol!

The illum. wire could be in either of those empty plugs, but I'm not about to sit here and test each of them. trust me, I have searched everywhere, asked everyone, and nobody seems to know.
