In ref to those who say buying an Optima or a Stinger, you bet, great batteries and they look nice - in the the engine bay or the trunk. When you start cramming your engine bay full of a bunch of turbo parts, that extra room sure is nice.

make sure if you use acid battery for relocation into the trunk, use a battery box and must be ventilated. dry-cell battery do not.

where are some good places to add grounds? i have my battery in the trunk right now but i'm trying to re-do most of the wiring in my car. i don't think i completely understand the concept of just adding grounds everywhere. :/

basically, drill and tap a hole, sand around it to remove the paint and bolt a ground to the chassis. that's how it works with the stock battery location and the stock grounds. then, the entire car becomes one big negative wire. drill and tap sets can be found at lowes for under $10. it will have the corresponding drill bit and tap.

ah, i should have clarified. i was wondering what exactly i should be grounding. for example, i just tapped a new ground for my tranny last week, so i have a tranny ground. could i just add more grounds to things that are already grounded? that's the impression i was under, that people were adding more grounds to things that were already grounded.

the theory behind grounding is almost like this. take the ground from the battery to the chassis. then go from the chassis to another chassis ground. and then another and so on. youre giving the ground wire more contact points to ground to the chassis.

cool, thanks a lot. pretty clear now.
what do you guys recommend using for battery and ground wires? it seems like a lot of people are using audio cable, and i'd think you'd want to use actual battery cable but maybe there's not a difference.

audio power cable, welding cable, battery cable, it will all work. my ground kit right now is actually the cheap battery cable from walmart. it's actually very flexible and fine stranded. wasn't too bad for $6 for 4ga cable. made my "big 3" kit from that.

audio cable is battery cable. it does the same thing. i use jl cable because i use jl everything. i like my stuff to match. even my battery terminals are jl. plus jl cable although exspensive has more strands than any of the wire i looked at when i was shopping.

ask and you shall receive. this is all 1/0 cable with gold terminals. here's my "Big-3" ground kit.
here's a close up of just the wire showing the small strands.
and here's a closeup of one of the terminals.
