Ignition Switch change or just bypass completly
Ignition Switch change or just bypass completly
Ok, I had to start my "new project beater" (1990 Civic HB) by touching a srewdriver to the starter bolts. I am told my ignition switch is most likley out. I was also told I could hook up a wire to my starter and use a push button to start my vehicle??? Does anyone know how to do this. Does anyone know where I can get instructions online for replacing ignition switches or doing this wire thing. I know I heard I could hook this wire up, turn the key to the start position and push the button and the vehicle will start. Can someone help?

run a wire from the battery to a momentary on switch and then to the starter. that will spin the starter even with the key off. or you can run the wire from a switched source to the switch and to the starter. or you could fix it the right way by putting a switch in it. pull the column apart pop the old one out and pop the new one in.

Re: Ignition Switch change or just bypass completly
Im actually doing it in my car right now, all I need is one small switch, 2 relays, and one push button. I still need to put the key in the ignition because of the keysensing **** thats in my car, but for your 1990, you wouldn't need your key at all. I checked my wiring and know wich wires do what, but i'm not sure what the wires are in your car, if you could get a wiring diagram for your car or tell me the wires that are at the ignition and test what they do. this is my ignition wiring.
