STUPID AMP!!!!!
the sony amp i jus bought has some sort of protection thing and i dunno what the hell it means!!!! there is a light that says "offset" and the function says "lights up in red when the voltage going out to the speaker terminal or pin jack is too high" and in the troubleshooting section for when the light comes on it says "Turn off power switch. make sure the speaker cord and ground lead are securely connected." i scraped all the paint around my grounding point away (the bar going across directly behind the seats), and connected the power wire to the battery, and the connections to the amp are secure... so whats my problem??!! whenever i make the bass above a certain point, that light turns on and the bass cuts out.... it makes me aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaangry!!!! the amp is a sony xplod XM-1502sx.... i know you guys hate sony, but it was on sale so i got it... im kinda regretting not getting a different brand now that its bein stupid.... the amp has settings on the back for the following.... under FILTER it has a **** which goes from 50hz to 300hz.. and the lpf, off, hpf switch... then it has a low boost ****(40hz) which reads from 0-10db... then it has a level **** which reats min and max.... what should i be setting these at to get the optimal bass from my system?? the biggest bass sounds like it comes from having the LPF switch on, and low boost to 10db, and level to max..... but that shuts the unit off in a second or two. HELLLPPP!!!! did i jus get a shizzy amp or do i have a connection wrong?? should i relocate the ground??
thanks for actually READING through my BS nonsense

Well for one I think you have your sub(s) woried to a 2ohm load which is why the amps going to protection...I don't mean to sound insulting in any way but you have no clue what your really doing so take it to an install shop and have em look it over for you.

well, i wired it like the instructions said for monural subwoofers... can you at least help me instead of writin me off??? btw... it has two pairs of speaker ports...
they go +- and - + for the monural subs it said to go from the first positive to the second negative... that should be right, correct??? since i have two subs.... should i just wire each of them to seperate speaker ports or should i wire it into one, then go from one to the other??

assuming they are single 4 ohm voice coil subs
Series for a 8 Ohm load
amp)+______+sub1-_________+sub2-______-(amp
Parallel for a 2 Ohm load
amp)+______+sub1______+sub2
amp)-_______-sub1______-sub2

I have a Sony amp too...just a 4 channel version...
couple things...one...if u set it up for subs...don't bridge it...that amp isn't designed for a 2 ohm load in 1-channel...another thing is underneather the amp see if u have a switch for "high current/high voltage"...it might be set at the wrong one...It explains it in the manual...I had to fuss with it...
I know u can drop the load on these amps tho...I have 3 sets of speakers running into 2 channels....and 1 sub bridged to the other 2 channels
Hope this helps...Mark

4 ohm... i tried both those methods above plus a few others.. and it still does it. i switched out all the speaker cable to a higher gauge, but it still does it... maybe i just bought the wrong kind of amp for this application?? i wonder if they will exchange it for a different kind or something...
