Hello guys,
So I'm not very familiar with the whole car audio thing, but I have 4 Polk component speakers w/ tweeters powered by Profile 1000W, 4channel amp, and today I've bought 2 10" JL subs in a ported box with Rocksford Fosgate 360a2, 2channel amp(it all came in a package). Now I have a dilemma: there are 2 sets of wires coming out of the amp. Two red, speaker wires that I think should connect to the subs on the sides and one set of two rca wires that is farily short. Could anyone here give me an advice of how to hook this up? Please leave me feedback asap, because I need to at least check them subs if theyre working. Thanks!

i've never seen red wires being speaker wires, but every company is different. The rca's should run all the way to your head unit. since you have another amp, look on the back of your headunit. most aftermarket come with a front, rear, and sub rca output. you want to run some rca's long enough to reach your headunit into the sub hookup for the sub amp and route the other amps rcas onto either the front or rear(doesn't really matter unless you have the rear and front on different amps). if you're still confused, pm me and i'll go into more detail.

ok, so i know about the rca wires now. i will need an extension cables to get them connected to my hu. as far as the subs go, the back of the subs doesnt say anything. the red speaker wire just says 'speaker wire' on it lol and i assume that they connect to the input connector on the box as they come out of the amp.

to tell you the truth I do not know, but heres the link to the auction that I've won. I tried asking the owner questions but the guy said that he bought the car with the box in it, and took it out, not knowing anythign about it. heres the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...2400745&rd=1,1
ok, they look like early model w-3's. if you want to know exactly how to run it, i need you to get into the box and look on the back of the sub, it should say something "ohm rating: dual 2". i need to know that to tell you how to run the subs safely.

it may also say:
10W3v2-D2
10W3v2-D4
10W3v2-D6
look for these or snap a pic and i'll help

thank you so much for ur time. theres nothing on the back of the subs but a silver layer. it seems like there was no sticker on it at all, just no name sub, but JL Audio on the front... hmmm.. i understand you need more info and I do not want to make wrong connections and fry something up, so i'm going to try to get more info on this although all I know is what I just told u.
ok, at the bottom it says 12w3 D4. this is a dual four ohm sub. now if you want to wire the two together, which they should already be to the posts (input on side of box). here in lies the problem, you can either run this at 1 ohm, or 4 ohms. he should have wired it to be run at 4 ohms, so you can bridge your 2 channel amp and run full power to it. so here's a diagram of how to wire this:

this should be how the subs are wired to the terminal if he was running it bridged before.
this will run your subs at 360 watts if you bridge it. to bridge it, you connect the positive(from the sub terminal) to the positve on channel 1 and the negative (from the sub terminal) to the negative of channel 2.
any more questions, just ask, rep me if i helped!!

good info, but the subs are already connected to the amp that came with it. there is a black 12awg wire that goes from each of them to the input on each of the sides of the box and thats where the speaker wire goes to the amp. i've ordered monster cable 300 series amp wiring kit and monster cable xln pro rca wires today so i'm hoping for a great sound improvement once i get it all put together. my question: i already have a 5 gauge wire ran from the battery through the firewall all the way to the trunk to power up my profile amp; could i run a 4 gauge wire through a power distribution block to the sub amp or do i have to run a 4 gauge wire all the way? also, the rca wires should go through the middle of the car, right? what about the power wire? thanks and i will rep u after ure done helping me and i do appreciate ur time.

probably around 360 for the sub and around 400-500 for the doors. .5 farad should be plenty for the sub. and with the wiring, you're going to choke your power if you do not run suffecient wiring. since you're running a little under 1000 watts combined, run at least 4 gauge, maybe 2 gauge, to the trunk. from there you can use 4 or 8 gauge from the distribution block to each amp. if you're going to run a capacitor, you need two, one for each amp. make sure you are also running at least 4 gauge ground also. any more questions, just ask.

keep in mind that i have 4 component speakers with crossovers and tweeters hooked up to my profile 1000w amp already. didnt know i will need two capacitors for this.. hmm.. im hurting with money rightnow. i'm going to use the monster cable 300 series wiring kit and i know thats probably all i need to wire both of the amps (eBay: MONSTER 4 GAUGE AMPLIFIER KIT MULTI AMP 1000W *BAP1000*) and some good rca wires for my component setup (eBay: NEW Monster Cable CAR XLN PRO 4C-5M COMPETITION 4-CH).
What do you think?
