Wiring harness question .. help please
These might be stupid questions. I've searched and couldn't really find answers:
1. What kind of connectors are best for connecting the power cord of the aftermarket HU (JVC KD-SX980) to the wiring harness?
2. I got the Metra wiring harness:
It says the Orange wire is illumination and the Orange/White wire is Dimmer.
But the power cord only has an Orange/White wire and in the manual, it says to car light control switch... does that mean illumination or dimmer?
My HU has the dimmer feature.
One more thing just to make sure... the harness says its Red is the 12V Ignition/Acc. and the power cord said its Red to be wired to an accessory terminal, I assume these two are the same things?
What about the Power Antenna (blue on the harness side), does that have to be connected?
Thanks a bunch.
Everything else seems to be self explanatory.

one more question, in the Metra wiring harness kit, it says to twist the wires, solder, then tape... is the soldering really necessary? can I just twist and tape the wires up real well?

I taped mine last month and so far no problems at all... my guess is that it never will be a problem. Make sure to use good electrical tape and wrap them tight! Sorry, can't really help on the color matching, I forgot all that stuff. But I had to do some guessing and it turned out all right
I prefer using butt-end crimp connectors for attaching the wires =) No solder and no gooey tape to deal with if I so choose to make changes
if you still can, go return that wiring harness that you have, and go out and purchase the metra smart adapter harness, its all plug and chug. Took me like 10 mins to put my deck in. its like 5 bucks more than the other harness.

thanks for all your help... I just couldn't wait to install my deck last night... so i just taped it up real good... and I looked again and found a post about the orange wire... since everything works now, I guess I used the right one.
so this harness you're talking about.... it's a snap-on?
maybe next time I make changes, I will use the connectors you guys talked about

i used bullet connectors when i put the "system" in my 88 dodge omni and they werent that great, or i didnt do a good job of crimping them because a few of them came off when i was taking the system back out before my dad traded the car in
