I put in a new Pioneer 6800 HU with alpine amp recently. Sometimes I listen to AM radio (sports talk, etc). Well now I can't get any of the station to come in worth crap now with the new HU. The old stock one did just fine. FM channels are fine just AM. Anyone know what's up with that?? Thanks.

Fire up the yellow/green wire in the factory harness with the blue/white from the Pioneer. This will solve your probs.

Yeah, I've seen this a few times already. This particular wires only pertains to the coupes and hatchbacks out there, not the sedans.

Gotta love the rep, I know I look unknowledgable but I have access to some sweet stuff. Hopefully I'll throw up a couple DIYs once I get my garage set up and my toolbox at home.

I'm trying to attach a mitchell doc to show the wiring but it's not letting me, best site upgrades ever.

I had the same problem. You need to attach the remote power wire to the power antenna wire. I can't remember what colours they are off the top of my head(I think on my pioneer deck the remote switch wire was blue with a white stripe).

did you just tap the remote wire into the antenna power wire with a wire tap?

Check it out. One's for a coupe, the other a sedan. The wire in the coupes turns on the AM antenna amplifier and combines it with the FM. Sedan doesn't use an AM amplifier so doesn't need to be "turned on".

Yes, Christmaspie, YOU ARE CORRECT! I took the yellow/green (which then on the harness is the blue (Power Antena) wire and that I solderd to the Remote wire (wire if have an amp) I have an amp so I just did a 3 way solder on it. Now the AM works "cherrypie" ;-) Thanks for the info guys!! Rep to ya Xmaspie. thanks

what about in the case that you dont have an amp hooked up, but still have a remote wire?

If the aftermarket deck has separate 12V outputs, a blue for power antenna and a blue/white for amplifier turn on, I would go with the blue to have it powered only when on the radio. A deck that only has a blue/white output for amp turn on will also work it will just leave the AM antenna amp on whenever the deck is on but it will be fine. Basically, it really doesn't matter all that much because either way it will be on when the radio is on.

Alright, next step would be to ensure that you actually have 12V on the wire when the radio is in AM and FM. If that is the case, my next thought would be a break in the wire between the deck and the antenna module or a bad antenna module itself. I've never had to troubleshoot beyond this point so it may get interesting. I'll see if I can't find some info on the antenna module over the next day. Also, it could just be a bad deck but it is tough to bench test a deck for AM without some custom rigged up antennas.

hey guys, nice forum you got here!

had a quick question for ya. i got an alpine in my 7th gen accord, and was wondering if the same applies for me. i can't get radio reception on AM either. installed the lower dash mounting kit and the deck myself, but didn't see any other wires coming out of the harness adapter. really want my AM back.

as a last resort, anyone know where to get a wireing diagram for an 03 accord coupe using the "6CD upper in dash with climate control" unit.

much appreciated!

I'll reiterate what I said to hwt101, make sure that you actually have 12V on the wire when the radio is in AM and FM. I've got some testing info beyond that but I'd need your e-mail address to send it to you.

As far as pop and whine, if these weren't present at all with the blue/white it sounds like you should disconnect blue/white. I've had weird whine issues with Pioneer decks more than any other. You could try using the accessory wire at the harness to trigger yellow/green instead of your blue/white.

Got the AM booster to work. I don't think the whine is related to the booster because the fronts whine like crazy and my rears don't. My subs use to pop when turning them on and off but now the fronts due too. Both front speakers and subs are amplified but rears are powered through the deck.

I can even hear the cd changing tracks through my speakers. I think I may try wiring the speakers through the deck alone. This way I know if it's an amp/RCA/ or grounding issue.
