Attn:Mohawk..Advice please
I'm interseted in getting a JL Audio 500/5 and a set of Boston Acoustics Pro's. The price I was quoted was $2200 cdn. Does this sound about right? When I was talking to the guy at the shop he said I should stick with 5 1/4 and not 6 1/2, something about the 6 1/2 being to boomy, to me this doesn't make any sense. Lastly is the tweeter location a good place for imaging?? Thanks for time...

Hi Greg,
well price seems a bit steep indeed. I Mean the BA pro 3-way compinent set goes for $850 Canadian..no clue what the jl 500/5 goes for but I'm sure it's not $1400 bro

Thanks for your response, the best I've found for the 500/5 is $600 US at Online Car Stereo. Just a little concerned about warranty since JL is getting really tough on interent sales.
Thanks

well if you're getting the 2 ways that's $429, so...that's a ripoff.....not a good deal bro.
also.. 5 channel amps tend to have a very weak crappy sub channel, better off getting 2 good amps for less.

The reason I'm interested in this amp is it's got a staggered channel layout with 100x2 front, 25x2 rear and 250 class D for the sub. Essentially it's JL 250/1 for the sub. I've looked around at other amps and I just can't seem to find anything else that would give me a good all in one package. Could you recommend a good 4 channel and a class D sub amp? I'm mainly concerned about SQ over boom. By the way how did Audio Thunder go? I think you mentioned you were going...

I prefer separate amps, but if you are definitely set on using a single 5-channel amp, here are some to check out....
5-channel amp
The guy has been trying to sell that one on the car audio forums and finally put it up on Ebay. He will probably deal and end the auction so you might get it for even less. Great 5-channel amp.
You can also look at the PPI PCX-5800 and a/d/s makes some nice ones. Arc would be a great choice as well.
But if you are looking for a deal, I'd go for the power & features of that U.S.Amps 5600X, especially if you can get him to drop the price even lower.
