Can someone help me with my setup

I got a JVC KD-LHX500 deck in my car now. I love this deck and would love to keep it. But I would also like to add a screen. I can get a Dual xdvd8170 single din motorized dvd player/screen for dirt cheap. Now what I plan to do is to have both decks functional so when im listening to my music I can use my JVC and when I want to play a movie, my Dual(obviously). Dual up top and JVC on the bottom.

So what Im thinking is to keep my harness plugged into my JVC as is and using the Line out(Dual) and Line in(JVC) to get my sound out. Red/white A/V cables. Is this the best way to do it?

Basically all I want is my JVC to generate the sound coming from my Dual deck and the dual deck just to play video.

Another questin involves wiring. To get power andwhatnot into my Dual, do I just simply tap into my original harness and share the same signal as my JVC? Im talking about wires like the ground, power, ignition.

Im a noob when it comes to this and im totally hopeless. If I got it all wrong can someone point me in the right direction?

thanks

somebody? anybody?

i would for sure run dedicated power wires (and grounds) to each one for the main battery lead. the ignition doesnt matter as its just a trigger wire. stock wires are tiny even for a single deck.

Gearbox - So you mean run the power and the ground straight from the battery?

ok...cool, thanks gearbox . . .

You think this setup from Dual DVD A/V controller to my JVC is the best way?

the output and input from the DVD controler to the JVC will be the standard audio cable... Is there a better way?

thanks

So I'm looking at the specs for your JVC KD-LHX500 and I don't see anything about RCA Audio inputs.

My suggestion is you just hook both decks up. Call it good.
Gearbox is right by saying hook your power up straight to your battery (Or you can use the the constant 12v wire in your ignition harness; its white). Then find your own ground. (You can ground them both at the same point)

Dark - The JVC doesnt come equipped with RCA inputs persay. You have to get a exernal component to obtain it. The JVC KS-U58 is a RCA input adaptor that plugs into the decks cd changer input.

Now when you say "wire both decks up" you mean one harness, 2 decks? Split all the wires between the 2 HUs and run a dedicated power and ground? what would happen if I play both radios accidentally at the same time?

Thanks

Sounds like a fine setup but you will need the JVC CD Changer to RCA adaptor. The one you mentioned or the Peripheral PXRJVC for example will be just fine. Use a pair of RCA's to send the audio out from the DUAL deck into the RCA -> Changer plug adaptor.
When you watch a DVD you'll throw it in the Dual and turn the JVC to Auxiliary mode. When you want to listen to a CD you can either put it in the dual or the JVC, won't matter. I would grab power and ignition for the DVD player at the ignition harness. Power and ignition for the deck can be from the factory harness and I would ground both units, solidly, together. Scrape away all paint and ensure a tight connection that will not vibrate free after some drive time. Should be plenty good candidates for a place to ground. Hope this helps.
