Unhappy Stereo Shutting Off

This has been happening to me for a couple of weeks now. I have a Pioneer DEH-P7200 HU that has been installed since the beginning of the year. Once in a while while I'm driving, the stereo shuts off and I can't turn it back on. Usually about 30mins later I can turn it back on and I have to reprogram all of my radio stations and the clock. The last time it happened, the A/C turned on and it took over an hour to be able to turn back on the stereo. Everytime this happens I only have the volume at 2/3rd loud. I'm running all stock speakers with no amps. Anyone have a clue what is going on?

well if you have to reset everything, then it was installed wrong. either the power wires are loose, or you have a problem with your battery or grounding. ive never heard of a pioneer having heat problem, so im gonna stick with bad install.

I agree with Gearbox, it sounds like a loose wire. If you used a wire harness, check to make sure the wires & pins are pushed all the way in. The yellow wire is usually the one that has a direct connection to the battery so that you don't loose all your presets Etc. I have a feeling that it is going to be a loose connection where the wiring harness plugs into the headunit. If it's not tight a bump could cause it to loose connection & another bump(or pounding with your fist) could bring it back on.

Reinstall it from step one. I think it's a bad ground wire or cold solder.

When I installed it. I solder all the wires to the wire harness and put electrical tape over the solder wires. But I remember that I had to shove in the deck because I didn't cut the wires short enough to fit it all in. I guess I'll have to pull it out and start over.

Thanks everyone for the reply. I just found it strange that the A/C would turn on when my HU shuts off.

I'm not exactly sure how it works, but when you have a cold solder, the source (your HU) looks for another place to ground itself. Now, I don't think that there are any power connections for the two, but if the A/C is assisting in that, it may turn on. This happened with my alarm where it would roll down the window when I armed it.
