Best way to keep an amp cool
Damn thing keeps overheating and I'm tired of having to ride with the back seat down and the window open all the time. Any ideas?
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

The best way to keep an amp cool is buy one that doesn't overheat (Kenwood, Infinity, JL, etc)
Otherwise give it as much ventalation as possible and make sure its not up against anything.

Put it in a location with better circulation, face up so that the heatsink is most effective. You can also mount cooling fans to push air onto it and that will help as well.

All I have to do is tap into my power wire & ground the fan correct.
Maybe a switch in the cockpit to turn it on & off???
Also I’m real high now but,
Aren’t commuter fans on AC currant & cars run off DC currant?
Or are they both DC? Or is it AC?
Elaborate for me electrical gurus!
computer fans are dc, and run on 12v, so our cars will be fine with them, I'm not sure if it would be a good idea, but anyone think you could wire the fan into the remote wire? it wouldnt be too much draw off of the deck
my friend added a fan to his amp, he cut a hole in the amp casing and mounted the fan in the hole, then he powered the fan by connecting the wires to the ground and remote wire terminals inside the amp. His looks ghetto as hell but you can make it look good if you spend more time than the 20 minutes he spent on it.

what do you think?
or just get an amp that is designed to handle the sub. i.e. dont get a sub that is more powerful than your amp, that will cause overheating. Im running a JL audio 500/1 for my premier sub and that doesnt overheat. The amp is alot more power, but I just have the gain down a little bit.
Its real easy instead of running the remote to the amp it self , get a relay run the remote to the relay. Hook up the power wire ground the relay your done. Now u can do all sorts of stuff, I did this so I could run my fans and my amps, Later on I will use it for the cathode lights. hope that helps Thread
