funny you say that
i was just at 7-11 the other day looking at mags
i think it's car audio and video ? or something like that has a step by step install of deck and eq in that exact same spot...granted it looked ugly as hell cuz the eq just sorta floats in that pocket

to do that properly, it does fit..but you have to cut out that pocket and either use a plastic or plexi plate..or do a little Fiberglass work for it to look good.

yes yes it definitely fits i was just poking fun at the magazines install..it was hideous...i coulda mounted it nicer with a shoebox, some rubber bands and a pair of scissors.
hahah okay not really.
but yeah all they did was cut the back off the stock pocket and it was just sorta floating in the pocket. hahah

the best place I've seen for an eq is by the slot by the parking break. That's where I am putting mine. And if you got an EX or are willing to get the cover for that slot that the EX has then the EQ stays out of sight. It's not like you are constantly adjusting your EQ so it doesn't have to be in direct sight anyway.
thank you all for replying......now i need more help..
i just mounted my EQ last night in the slot next to the parking brakes.i came up with another problem.....the slot is wider (vertically) than my EQ, so i have this open hole that you can see through. what do you suggest i do to cover up the gap??
Narflar do you have a pic of the EQ install?? id very much like to compare it to the "crappy" install i did.

I also have a Clarion EQ......I mounted it beneath the HU (in this pic the HU's face is rotated...you know, the kenwood d-mask thing).

to cover the whole just but a little bit of black plastic and figure a way to keep the plastic held properly to hide the whole where it won't rattle.

Amphiprion, was your eq wider than the slot opening?? mines is, and i dont know how to make the EQ fit. im not too sure on what to cut from the slot.
mohawkboom, i tried the cut a piece of plexiglass to cover the gap but what do you suggest to hold it in place?? i was thinking about a clear all purpose adhesive, possibly a sealant. would that work??
