Will someone give me some input on my sub box idea?
Hey I have a 4 dr civic I measured the trunk and think that I can put three 12"s in the trunk without any problems. I would like my box to look as though there is no box and that the speakers are just part of the trunk. I have included pics of the sides and have the dimensions maybe this wont work but I thought it might be worth a shot.
Back 40"length , 17"high
bottom 40"length on the back, 19"deep, 3x14panels with 12"diam. cut outs for subs
top 40"length on the back, 19"deep, 3x14panels with 12"diam. cut outs for subs
front 3 panels 14"each with 12"diam. cut out (42"wide), 19"height
ltside 19"heigh in front, 17"heigh in back, 19"deep
rtside 19"heigh in front, 17"heigh in back, 19"deep
pics included on all I drew them up so you could get a visual. I intend on putting three RF HE2s, or 3 JLW6 in this box if this is crazy and I am just out of my mind please help me to help you with the look that I am going for try www.jlaudio.com installs section thanks b
PS if I didnt post the pics right let me know please give me feedback thanks

I'm no mohawk, but i think that if you want it to look as smooth as possible, a fiberglass enclosure would be your best bet, a lot lighter and better lookign in the end. I don't really know much about glassing tho.
yeah, do the fiberglass enclosure in spare tire area. there's mass diy's on these types of projects on the net, just search. I was thinking about doing one, but i just can't let go of the bandpass, plus i don't have the time.

If you want to sacrifice the space that your spare tire sits in, then I would highly suggest glassing your speaker into that area. I had a Daytona with a spare tire setup the same way, except the Daytona was a hatchback. All I did was aquire a piece of 1' plywood or particleboard square shaped and cover the spare tire hole. Before I affixed it I cut the hole out for my 15. I then cut a small hole for the speaker wires. Use liquid nails to fill the hole instead of silicone caulking. It dries harder and makes a better seal. I then screwed the wood to the frame and glassed it inside to the steel...Obviously the bigger the hole (10,12,0r 15 the easier the application of the fiberglass.....Anyways, you may experiment with the speaker facing inside the box or facing outside the box(typical instalation) I noticed with the hatchback with the speaker firing inside the box w/ the magnet on the outside it pounded a lot harder. Being in a trunk tho it may be too much air space...but then again I think if I do it to my honda I will face the magnet out...another reason is appearance...If you have a chrome basket and a massive magnet it looks good for show....but again its what ever you decide.....

Well Crappit.. I don't have any pics but I've done 3 10's in a 2k2 Sedan..312's will fit as well. I'd reccomend 3 JL12w3D6's not W6's..the W6's are an old school sub with less excursion and power than the W3's.
u can do something like this but face the subs forward(it will fit if you Mount the subs like this O
O O

Should cost you about $450-600 for an install like that plus subs..Wie the subs as such

Great amp to match these is a DEI600D 1ohm stable 600Wrms..or a JBL BP600.1
Cheers
