Is anyone else having problems with trying to get new stock of prettymuch all new alpine headunits? I am trying to get more of the new 56 and 57 headunits and I keep getting the same runaround that they are on back order or that there is shipping delays. Just throwing this out there if anyone else is have problems getting new stock. I am also having problems with clarion with the same problems backorders and delay. My only thought would be in the cost of fuel oil effecting either the trucks or the container ships.

Any thoughts?

I'm in the same boat with a singal processor.

for me, the word on the street is that their manufactuerer ran out of a component on the board and couldnt get any more stock, delaying the whole line. significantly.

meanwhile, states side, every retailer ran out of stock, and now its so impossible to find the unit, ebay units that pop up sell for OVER retail. amazing.

I'd guess that if alpine has a gas issue, the price would be going up, but they'd still be available. Could be anything.

actually I heard something about alpine discontinuing the 701, so if thats what you are on backorder for, are you sure they will be in stock again?

No i am actually waiting on the 9856 and 9857 models those were my hottest sellers since they have the easiest and cheapest ipod interface. I have been waiting for just over a month and no word other that they hope to get more in by mid june hopefully.

same deal up here in the great white north had to wait a month for my iva d310 to come in stock they had to ship from Japan to the states then to Canada

i work at an alpine authorized shop, we currently have SEVERAL items on backorder that have been ordered since CES! Alpine is terrible about only shipping half their line until almost the next business year! Good luck with your orders guys. The only consolation I have for you is the fact that Alpine tends to fill employee/sponsor orders first, then general store stock second.

I had Alpine...enjoyed it...then I got a Pioneer and I love it. I work for a large electronics retailer and I have seen my fair share of Alpine decks have to be sent into to be fixed. Pioneer has many fewer units that had to be serviced. Also, my place of employement dropped Alpine; I think it was a smart decision based of the problems you guyz are seeing now.

I'm just curious, lets use a parallel example:

I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that JL sees more blown w7's than w6's. If thats the case, does that mean one is an inferior product? or does that tell us more about what kind of people buy that particular product, and how many?

Ill bet we see larger numbers of w7 sales, and that a larger percentage of those people are blockrockers who will invariably destroy their gear.

I'll bet this is also affecting the data we see here.

True if you sell more of a particular product there's more chances that more of them will have problems. However, my store sold more Pioneer units than Alpine units. About 70% of the Alpine units had issues and about 35% of the Pioneers had problems. I believe that's why my retailer dropped Alpine; their quality of product has dimished over the last few years.
