any easier way to DIY HU install?
I've been looking through.. the DIY section on removing the Head Unit...
is there any easier way to take the head unit out.. other than.. taking apart the whole center console?
yes.. I have used the search function... many times...
Please help me out people...
thanks..

No, there really is no easy way, you must remove the bottom bin with the power adapter to access 2 bolts that hold the center console in. Once those are out, pry out the center console. This is the simplest way to do it.

uh.. there is no other way.. when you took those two screws off.. that was only one of the few steps you have to take.. next would be popping out the console.. THEN you do your thang and take out the factory deck and yadda yadda yadda..
you did not find any easy way.

Ok, I have those two screws out (assuming you guys are talking about the second last pic of the DIY)... I am having serious problems prying out the center console. Could someone advise me on how to take it out? Like how to pry / pull? My storage bin has a door on it (I have an Acura 1.7EL), not sure if that would make a difference. Do the two vents come out with it? Or is it just the CD player & climate controls?
I found it was easier to remove the dash by grabbing the top part of the metal "bracket" and pulling there to pop the first few clips. I'm speaking of the the part where you remove the two screws by the cigarette lighter. After you remove those...grab the edge of the top metal bracket and pull with your figertips. Gloves help alot.

do you mean push the bracket? Because my hands will be inside right...
I assume the bottom bracket (meaning that metallic part you see in the picture) is part of the piece that stays on and the top bracket is the part of the piece that comes off (including the HU and all). Is my assumption right?
I'm just afraid I might break something. Ya I gotta get myself some gloves.. already cut myself once already.
thanks for all your help.

i cut myself every time i do something ot the car. i really think these 7th gen civics like to bite.
anyhoo.. yep.. you are right to assume the bottom metal rail is pretty much stationary and the top one is the on you are gonna try and pull on.
any easy way which i use is to kinda roll the top edge out of the whole center dash console, until you can stick your fingers in enough to tug and do just that. it does take some force the first few times you do it...
good luck!

you don't have to take out the console around the shifter....the DIY is wrong....
just pop out the bin where the power outlet is, unscrew the 2 screws, and pull out the dash...simple....
someone please change the DIY so people don't waste their time...thanx

You are right some of the steps are not neccessary, also they should add something about being careful about cutting your thumbs trying to seperate the plastic dash unit from the steel support bracket , cut both my thumbs at one time trying to apply preasure at that position rather than prying from the outside. Oh well better cutting my thumbs than scratching the dash skin will grow back dash scratches won,t
