Finished DIY Trunk. Finally.

Redid my trunk based off the DIY. This was my 2nd attempt and my 1st attempt at carpet. Comments appreciated. And for all those carpet pros. How do you get rid of the seams were the pieces meet?

Congrats on finishing it.
To get seams out, and any bumps, I just stretched it VERY VERY hard and used only single pieces to cover bit areas.

If it's in pieces, which it appears to be, use one single piece of carpet. Lay it face down on a table, or floor (where it isn't dirty). I know, you're thinking, it's box carpet, it looks the same, it has a face side and a down side. Once you put the face side down, stretch the hall out of it and affix it so it doesn't move (I have a wood bench that's rather large, so I stretch it and staple it to the table, you'll cut it off later). Next, spray the glue on it (I like to use CVA glue in a HVLP gun), if the HVLP gun and spray glue isn't available, 3m will work. Apply a coat to the wood as well. Lay all the pieces on there as they will be in the vehicle. Clamp the wood on top of the carpet and let it set and dry. Once it's dry, unaffix the carpet. Spray more glue on the areas on the back of the pieces where the carpet will overlap. Stretch it as tightly as possible over the edges and staple it to the back of the pieces. Once that dries, you can put it in the car, using the carpet as your hinges. It'll still fold up, but it'll be one silod sheet of carpet.

You could make the seams less noticeable if you used the same color carpet for all of the pieces.

It was all the same carpet from the same roll. I am not sure why they looked different in spots. I would not think that rotating the carpet would change the appearance. I used 3M until it ran out then had to use a Neoprene adhesive I brought with a headliner kit. But that did not cause the color change because I only used it on the two edge piece.

Very strange.
I would recommend doing an entire new layer of carpet on the floor. I would rip the old stuff off if I could and start over with a better piece.

If not just live with it, its only the trunk.

You probably used the face of the carpet on parts and the back fo the carpet in others. Yes, carpet does have a front and back (see my above post)

Think I can live with it for now. Thought I kept it facing the same way but who knows. Does it stretch well? I just pick up a roll they sell at Wal-Mart. Should I have used something different?

I'd have went to an audio shop and bought it from them. The stuff at Wal-Mart isn't the same, but if it works for you, feel free to use it. Grey 11 is the carpet code if you do buy some box carpet.

as long as the carpet gives a little, thats whats most important. after that, its pill rate, color, thickness, the list goes on. your budget defines how important those factors are

I actually have nothing to add, except to keep in mind that pulling the carpet tight and using a single piece for the whole floor is whats really key. everyone explained everything else already.

rotating the carpet can definitely change color, too.

once the carpet is on, you can use the carpet itself like a hinge, fold up those side flaps, insert the whole floor, then unfold the flaps and smooth the seams by hand.

it'll look factory

I recommended that above as well. I suppose great minds think alike, maybe mine isn't great, but I had the same idea.

Thanks to everyone for the input. I might hold off awhile then redo it. Since I just put the sub back in after having them out for a while, do to the fact they were sliding all over the place before.

No I used 2 small l-brackets. I attached them to the floor then carpeted over them so you cannot really see anything but the part that attaches to the box. Those are sort of hidden by the strut tower bar if you look through the backseat.
