oh great, optima died
yay dead battery and i'm stuck at work in the rain. fabulous. thanks optima for providing 1.5 years of power. what a pos. anyone have suggestions for a new one? something good, looks kinda matter, but i want some good power and still have it fit in. something from advance or autozone since i need one asap.
I have had the mid range(red I think) Autozone battery for about 5 months now. I run about 1000W RMS system with fogs and headlights on at all times. It has been serving me very well. I would recomend it for the price plus the free warranty.

yellow top deep cycle group 51. i almost never use it when the car is off, and it only drained a bit once. i have a tiny stereo system, no subs. no more optima for me. i'll prolly just get a jump to advance and buy some autocraft battery for $50. even if it only lasts a year(i'm sure it will last longer), thats 1/2 what i paid for the optima.
im so sick of this car. nothing works right. and its pouring rain yay for me

charging system is fine, just got a new alt less than a year ago. Well i had someone jump me, first time it struggled turning and didnt start. second time more struggle and finally it started. that battery was completely DEAD within an hour of driving the car. It was having a hard time getting to advance before they closed. the lights kept dimming and going nuts. well long story short i got a nice new motorcraft silver battery with 2 yr warranty for just over $50. Man the difference is amazing with how much better the accessories work and less dimming. That optima was such a POS I will never buy again.

ya but i lost my receipt, and i didnt want an optima anyway. i never want this happening again. I went on the corvette forums and they hate optima with a passion. nobody there had it last more than 1-2 yrs.

Most national chains like PepBoys only require a phone number.
They ask you for it when you buy it for warranty purchases.
You have the option of using your prorated refund towards another battery of a different brand.

seriously gearbox, i've come to notice that you think everything is a POS once something goes wrong with it. Not everything is perfect, there are some OPTIMAS out there that are just faulty. I hear you go on and on about how good a certain product is and how bad it is, but once something goes wrong, its now a POS. Then the cycle continues about something new again. Suck it up and stop complaining about everything about your car, maybe if you would stop doing all this little crap to your car, here and there, you wouldn't have these problems.
Had the OPTIMA for a while now, working fine for me.

the fatty blue optimas are beasts (deep cycle). my friends dad's alt died out in the country on his 1967 Cutlass (455 CID), so we drove out there with the beast battery, threw it in, and he drove with a bad alt for about a week, and the battery was still fine.
Optima yellow sucks....Had it for 1 year and 2 months and totally dead....The charing system is good, and I could drive home after a rolling start (under 90 degree weather!)....I could have known earlier about the battery going out by the alarm of the cap, which always warned me about "low voltage" in the system...

I had a yellow top for 3 years with never a issue so I would consider that something was wrong or that you had a possible bad battery

prolly, i seem to read alot about "bad" optimas enough that i'm not taking anymore chance. Yea with this new batt my throttle response is crazy especially from a stop the thing gets going alot quicker.

Wow, I'm running a 34 Yellow, had it for quite a while now with no problems. Seems to me that Optima CAN make a good battery but have a high defect ratio. I'm gonna watch mine and keep a few bucks handy for a new battery if it craps out. Even if it doesn't, this post just made me a touch more vigilant about watching my electricals.
Fellow poster with an opinion on Optima yellow tops. They Suuuuuuccccckkkkk.Mine only lasted about a year just running a system with about just over 1k watts.Bought a Duralast battery from Autozone and never been happier.Great starts and no dimming.
