First and foremost, please stop with the ghetto IM slang. Type the words out for God's sakes, it's hard on the eyes.

Second, what's your budget? How much do you want to spend on this amp? What model of alpines are these? I know of a few models of Type R's right off the top of my head. The 1242D Dual 4 ohm, and the 1222D dual 2 ohm. Those are the current models I can think of. Don't recall past models. Regardless, this will help in finding an amp that suits them best. Also, what's your primary concern SPL or SQ? I'm assuming SPL since you referred to it as straight bumping.

ok im sorry for tha "ghetto slang" most are cool with it some are not. its just easier for me to type but i guess ill have to stick with this.
i didnt think i was going to have any problems with it on this site. secondly im hoping to spend around $300 but ill be willing to put in more. third i believe they are the swr-1242d. fourth i do not know what spl or sq is so if you can explain this to me that would be great but yea im looking for tone as well as a hard hit. finally seeing as my previous ghetto slang has probably led you to hate me i thank you for your willingness to help.

No, it doesn't make me not want to help, it just makes it a tad harder on my eyes to convert it to the words that it means. I'm getting older I suppose. No worries man.

SPL is basically loud with no regards to sound quality. It stands for Sound Pressure Level. It's pretty much creating as much pressure in the cabin with your speakers as you can.

SQ stands for sound quality. Generally this application focuses on sound clarity. The emphasis isn't on being loud.

Then there's always the term that some people created called SQL, which is pretty much a combination of the two. And generally what most are looking for. They want it loud as hell, with a degree of clarity.

What do you not like about the current amp? Does it not provide the power you want? Does it's clarity bother you? Just curious...

For that budget, I don't know what you could find that'd provide you with both gobs of power and clarity. Assuming you're wanting to provide more to the speakers.

I can give you a few amps that'd sound good and provide you with more power, others might also be able to offer more concise input. Here's ones that I've had success with in installs as far as powering stuff and sounding clean that are at your budget requirements.

Hifonics Brutus BX1605D

Hifonics Brutus BXi1606D (This year's model of the Brutus)
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3804

JBL GTO1201.1II It's a tad over $300 but it's a good amp
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...Product_ID=233

Phoenix Gold R15.0;1
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...Product_ID=447

Alpine MRD-M1005 Again, a tad over budget, but still a good amp
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=2462

Memphis 16-PRD1000.1 nother that's a tad over budget
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...Product_ID=373

Soundstream TRA1000.2 A little over budget
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3178

Soundstream TRA1400.2 Another that's a little over budget, more power than the previous Soundstream I linked
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3179

Soundstream PCA1500D Over budget again here, but not by much.
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3194

Were it me, and I were picking out of the ones I linked above and didn't mind going a tad over budget, I'd have to pick the Soundstream TRA1400.2 It's a great amp that will provide you with more power output than you currently have. It's also a clean sounding amp, so your SQ would improve considerably over the MTX you currently have, if it's the one I think it is. Those speakers, again off the top of my head number here, are rated at 1500 watts apiece, so you're in no danger of sending them thermal.
