what is better??
I was wondering to have two 10's or one 12 subwoofers.
what kind of different sounds come out of those different setups. Anybody who has had them both or one or the other please reply...
thanks

i ahve two tens in my car. It's pretty bassy, but it rattles the trunck since i haven't installed dynomat yet. I took out the wire so right now im only running 1 10 which i think sounds way way better, it's like a rich-sounding car system like harmon kardon, or bose. Keep in mind that 2 10's or 1 12 will take up about 1/3 of your trunk
I work in car audio and I get asked that question every day. Two of any size sub will more than likely be louder that one. You have two woofers pushing twice the air and that makes it louder. Keep in mind wattage though, if you double the power to a single twelve it will (in theory) be equally as loud as two tens.
FOR THE RECORD:
tens are tighter and puncher
twelves play the bass that you feel much better than tens.
a twelve will not be as punchy as a ten because the amp has a harder time controlling the large cone. Some amps have higher control over a subs movement perfect example is the new Alpine PDX amps. Thay have 90% percent more control of a woofers movement than its V12 brother.
So what I mean is you could have a twelve that punches hard and a ten that drops harder. Its up to you what you buy I would say from what you want for bass go with a single Type X ten. just make sure you get some good power going to it. The type X will probably run you about $400 I could even sell you one from my shop. need atleast 800W RMS (RMS means real power) for this sub. PM me

Well thanks for the answer DJayG...I will keep than in mind, because first i am going to buy some good speakers to change my stock ones, but then I will definitely get a subwoofer and amp......thanks for the advice.......and to ask another question what componet speakers should I get using stock head unit, or is it better to get 2 or 3 way speakers all around???.....sorry for so much questions is that I got my 2001 civic like a month ago, so you pretty know how I feel.....thanks again....
definately do seperates in the front, 6.5" if you dont plan to add an amp then get some speakers that will play fine off of deck power but can still ahndle more wattage in case you do add an amp.
