Cat5 cable for speakers?
i read somewhere u can use cat 5 internet cabling for speakers? dont remember where.
i used to use the stuff to make LONG RCA cables and the quality enver dropped so im wondering if I wanted to power my components int he door fromt he trunk if cat five would work. as its for high speed signals and is shielded well the cabling is fair quality.
any thoughts? I may try it for the hell of it to see what i get anyway heh.

You can use it, you can only use 40ft of it and its only good for 20 watts on 1 speaker. I was actually reasearching it yesturday for the house, cause im hooking up surround sound. Its a pain in the butt.

if you use cat 5 cable, you can hook one end to your speaker/ sub woofer and one end to your laptop. YOu can then upload the signal right into the speaker! lol

I have had friends use it before. Its ok temporarily. If you really wanted cleaner wiring use a drill to twist the wires into a cable and then heatshrink it, electrical tape it, put plastic ducting on it, or any combination of them.

there ya go!
the site has all sorts of fantastic projects, and only the flexy racks look terrible.

for the price...why would you ever want to use cat 5. its the stupidest idea ive ever heard of. and there certainly is a difference in higher quality cables whether your personal ears can hear it or not, others can, and maybe its our preference to have the best sound possible.
