MODERATORs, PEOPLE, ANYONE seroius sound question here
OKKKkkkk i just installed my subs today. i got 2 RF HE2's with a 800.2 RF AMP. i hooked everything up and i was a whole lot confused about some stuff. i hooked my + and - to the amp, then i ran a + to the REM so it would turn the amp on....... well it didnt. i took it out and looked inside and I didnt see anything wrong so i started hooking up the lines and well , whoa. i started taking readings from a volt meter and i was getting some weird readings
1) i got 12v from the main lines going to the amp when my car was on and off. (this should be correct, right)
2)the amp turns on when i hook a + to the REM (good)
3)i got a reading of 12v from the REM and + main side when the REM wasnt connected, meaning the amp isnt on. (should i be getting 12v from the + and REM when the REM isnt connected??)
damn i need a EVERYTHING ELSE LOOKS AWSOME! thanks

You should be getting a reading from your + side whether the amp is on or off...assuming you hooked it up correctly. I mean, to the battery. As for the rem...if your rem wire is hooked up to the rem output on your cd player or on a keyed circuit in your car, then it definately should not be getting a reading. How did you wire the rem up?

i didnt hook up my head unit yet, i was just getting ready but got weird signals, why do i get 12v from the + side and the REM when the REM is not connected to the + source? thanx
Umm...what? Okay...are you measuring the rem voltage from the amp's rem terminal? If you are getting a signal from that, and nothing is hooked to it, then the only thing I can think of is maybe a short in the amp...but I don't know. If you're measuring from the wire...then you shouldn't be getting any signal whatsoever if your HU isn't hooked up...'cause that's where your rem signal comes from. What Wire did you hook up as the Remote Wire?... if you're HU's not installed yet there's your obvious problem.. the Remote wire comes out of your HU and turns the amp when the HU is on.
<< f*ck the volt meter, just hook everything up n see if it works. >>
you are one of those guys at Best Buy in the Car Audio are that really doesnt know what they are doing.

Ok very simple here. Remote wire goes to the REMOTE OUTPUT on your aftermarket head unit. If stock head unit then wire remote wire to ANY (+) SOURCE WHEN THE KEY IS IN THE ON OR RUN POSTION. I dont see the difficulty here??

ey he said it does turn on so who cares, as long as it works its all good. the whole point is to get the amp to turn on, not to analyze all that ish.

And this coming from someone who is arguing with me over how many wRMS subs will get with a multiple sub setup.

NeonNights, why you hating? a 600wrms watt amp will not put out 600wrms to EACH sub. it'll put out 300wrms to each sub. n this n what we we're talking about it different. so why the f*ck you startin sh*t here. just be a dumbass and buy two L7's when all you need is one with a jbl bp300.1
in our situation, you have to look at it to get the most out of the system. with this, the REM isn't gunna effect how loud it bumps, just if the amp turns on or not. n if it turns on then whats the whole point of using the volt meter?

<defends neon> BECAUSE WE DONT NEED THE F'IN AMP ON 24/7, THATS WHAT A REMOTE TURN ON IS FOR!<caps intended>

no sh*t, thats what a REM wire does. turns the amp on/off when needed. but ey if it works then it works.
n if your backing up neon you must be just as dumb as him(ey i was tryin to be koo with him but he just had to post something bout me here)... read the this thread n you'll know what i'm talking about.

VNlilMAN: I just want to say I'm sorry for givin' you $hit. I'm not hatin'. I guess I've just been a d_ck lately...things have been kinda rough the past few days, and I've been in a bad mood. As for the amp stuff, let's just forget I ever said anything. Let's just pretend that we never talked about it, and neither of us is right. That way, we can just forget about it. Cool?
avenger: Thanks for defending me...you are right about the guy not wanting the amp to stay on. I do agree with VNlilMAN in a way, though...I mean, I suppose if it's turning on, you don't really need the volt meter.
I think we just had one big confusing bunch of posts on this topic. Maybe we should just forget it, and tell the person who started this topic to take his car to a stereo shop where they can fix anything that might be wrong. What do you guys think? I mean, it's kinda hard to troubleshoot stereo equipment when you can't actually look at it.
