Trunk Popper
I have an autopage remote start/alarm/keyless entry combo.
It has a trunk popper feature that I would really like to get installed.
My question is, if I should or not. As far as price wise goes, i might be able to afford it. I just don't know what all parts I would need to make it a power trunk, if you will. I would really like something where it could come up and come down with the click of a button. I always have my hands full(of beer) and a button would come in really handy in this situation. Plus, it wouldn't be a bad way to show off my system.
Any and ALL feedback is appreciated.

not very expensive...costed me about $60. i bought the 01-02 accord trunk release from handa-accessories for less than $30 shipped and had best buy wire it up for 34.99 since they installed my alarm.

but that wont open and close the trunk like he's talking about..
i think he's talking about how higher end SUVs and the such have motorized remote rear doors. push the button and it opens all the way up using a motor, not just by releasing the lock...then push the button again and it closes. and that, is probably a pretty penny

If you utilize the Accord trunk popper mechanism will the factory truck release cable still work? And the only way to open it electronically would be with the alarm system correct? No Honda factory keyfob, correct?
The accord popper will still work with the key, and release. you just need to hook up the steel cables into the popper for correct operation (no modification needed).
The only difference between the Civic and Accord popper is the electronic mechanism to open the latch.
A separate button to open the latch is feasible. An alarm is not necessary.

ah ok...if you're talking about a trunk that opens and closes with a button then I think it might be pricey. I haven't heard or seen anyone do or try it. I'm pretty sure someone might has done the modification. btw, delphi who makes a bunch of products for GM/Chevy cars makes one. Maybe you can mod it to fit and work.

Well there's that one DIY somewhere on the site that, I believe gearbox did.. (suprise suprise).. anyways, He switched his trunk over to open with shocks instead of those bars that go across the back of the trunk.. anyways, you could probably do the same thing with actuators.. hook them up to a pulse timer relay to your alarm.. call it good.
