New Trunk Setup With Pics
I'm currently building a custom trunk for my car, it's not finnished yet, but I taught i'd post some pics while doing it and post more when done. I did something somewhat similar to the DIY, but with one sub and because my type-r was deeper than the subs in the DIY, I had to make 4 steps to stick my sub out more. Im not sure how it's gonna sound yet, but hope it doesnt sound too bad because of the steps.

Here are some more pics. everything is completly sanded, assembled and ready for primer and paint.
Ill post one more final pic when it is painted and in my car.
Anybody have any ideas on wich colour i should paint it??? My car is white, but i think that might be too easy to get dirty.

A few more pics. Everything is done and ready to go in the car. The only thing missing in the pics is the 2 power wires entering the distobution block, the cover of the distrobution block, the 2 ring terminals for the cap, the remote wire and the RCA's (cause they are all in the car). I will post one final pic of it in the car later today or tommorow.

Here are the last pics, it's finnaly in my car, but can't turn it on t'ill i go buy my new headunit, so i will only be able to tell you how it sounds when i get the HU. anyways, i decided to cut a hole in the carpet and staple it to my base underneath so it looks like the base is on top of the carpet, cause if i hadn't put carpet, on each sides it had nothing cause my new base doesn't cover the whole trunk. I also installed 4 LED's on top of trunk to come on when the trunk opens.

yes, it's 3/4" MDF

Looks good - job well done!
My only fear is the size of the enclosure for the sub.
Thats a nice sub, and it really doesn't *look* like there is the right about of volume... how did you account for this?

give the man a chance...he already said he won't hook it up u til he get a new HU. Good job man, looks really good. Again, only concern is the air space for that sub. i would have painted a diff color or even covered it in carpet, but that's just me

i dunno either, but i would think about 1.5 ft^3 should be sufficient....hmmm..the math tells me you have about 1.03 ft^3 (1728 in^3)....that may be a little small...don't know if you said already but what size is that sub. if it's a 10" you might still be ok since it is a sealed enclosure....10" needs .5-.8 ft^3 and 12" needs .7- 1 ft^3 in a sealed box as per both Crutchfield and the Alpine website. You should be good dude, let us know how it sounds!!!

it looks awesome - but the volume is something you're going to want to make sure is as close to spec. as possible - a little bit won't matter....
Check out the website, they should have the specs for it.
I'm the worst for this stuff - but I know from experince that if the volume isn't correct it's not going to sound very good!...and it can be detrimental to your speaker (sub).
IF it's too small the way it is, you could always make more room under it by removing the spare wheel and building an extension on the box.
Or, add another level or 2...
Hope it works out for ya, looks slick!
