the difference between python and viper is the logo on the brain and the color of the remote.

just remember that its 90% install and 10% equipment when it comes to car alarms. i have the viper 791xv and like an idiot i was, i let circuit city do my car alarm and guess where the sensor and brain is located...thats right...under the dash. horn is visable as well right when you open my hood.
goodluck installing whatever alarm you have, make sure to spend as much time as possbile and find the best locations you can think of to prevent theft. also and fyi, you need a bypass module in order to run the remote start feature in the 2001+ honda civic.

Bypass Module
Everything except tach and hoodpin and siren connections will be under the dash, for those three connections you will have to run wires into the engine bay. If you never have installed any kind of KE/RS/alarm system before i highly recomend you pay a professional to do it. like d17thgen said, its all in the install. I'm willing to bet I can take the most bottom of the line DEI alarm and install it better than a first timer can install a 791.
Do you have any experience with using a digital multi meter or have a good grasp on electrical theory?

well as long as you know what the wire your trying to find is going to look like on a multimeter and what a negative trigger and positive trigger wire is going to look like; as long as you take your time, you should be fine.
