Help: Cannot play radio with CD in player ??

I just bought a 2002 Civic (which I really enjoy so far)

The only problem that I have noted is that when there is a CD in the drive, the AM/FM button will not switch to the radio as the manual says it will.

The result is that if I want to listen to the radio, the CD must be removed first. A small problem, but a pain nonetheless. This is the factory radio. Have I missed something obvious?

Thanks in advance for any advice / help.

Paul

You might want to have it looked at. Mine switches over with no problems.

Thanks James77,

I bought it from a Honda dealer 3 days ago, so maybe they will do something even though it's not a warranty item...

No problem. If they end up wanting to charge you to fix it you might want to look at getting an after market head unit. You can get a decent entry level Alpine for around $200 that will be better than the stock one.

Time to replace it for a new one (aftermarket). The stock one sucks anyway. You can get a new one with parts for under $150.

I didn't think of eBay. Good idea. If the dealer won't deal, then its that or an aftermarket.

Thanks

I must say that I am impressed so far with Honda and their people.

When I called the dealership, they were extremely helpful. They took my info, said they would get a replacement and only wanted to know when I could bring in the car.

A bit of an inconvience, but excellent service as it does say "as is" on the sales contract.

All free of charge. Well done Honda.

Paul

Now I just have to unload this jetta....

i know i paraphrased what you said.... but did you expect them to come to your house

when i bought my car i couldnt get the radio to work and the car didnt have the keyless entry controllers (EX w/ certified used program), and i had to fight with them just to get those.... and to think this is one of the "best" honda dealers out there
9 time winner of honda presidents award...?
