helpp!!

the fuse on the power line on my basslink x was burned so i went to 711 to get a 20 amp fuse...soon as i put it in i drove about 10 secs and i smell sumting electrical burning so i parked the car opened my trunk it was my subs..the subwoofer isnt fried it still turns on but when i put a new fuse in there smoke comes out,,whhattt is wrooonggg??? hellpp anyone?

ummmm. your amp is fvcked up. no really thats the only thing i can come up with, that or your sub is pulling way to much power. but usually the sub only pulls what the amp is giving it so its usually just an amp prob. what system do you have. deck, amp(s), speakers, subs, and who wired your car.

never exceed the original fuse's rating when replacing them, thats how fires start.

Either your power wire is grounding out or the amp is bad internally. Look for any frayed wires.

me and my cousin wired the car..i have a pioneer deck with 200 watts and stock speakers. the sub is self powered,the basslink..
greenloch i was using the right fuse 20 amp yeah ill stop by autozone and get another fuse and ill check for frayed wires
i guess i has to go to the garbage can huh??

Well 20 amps is a small fuse so you haven't exceeded any fuse rating. Your sub is blown my friend. What happened the first time was the blown sub caused the impedance (resistance) to go up and the amp was trying to pull too much power. The new fuse seems to be allowing the power, and the amp is pushing power through the sub which is blown and has an extremely high resistance. When this happens, the resistance causes the voice-coil on the sub to heat up and that is the burning smell you're getting. Just because it still turns on doesn't mean it's not blown.

ur right my friend,,,my subs all ****ed up,,anyway i needed a better one,,that basslink is just too weak,.,...

I bought that exact same setup... My amp got fried and I had to buy another one, but even with a lower amp, they hit hard... I love my 'bahns... Good buy...
