Great amps.. the 1000D draws alot more current that your electrical system can supply.. so unless you wanna get a H/O alternator.. it's a no no.. the MTX500D puts out over 800Wrms.. and would do mighty nicely..

Cheers

MTX6500D $309 shipped from OnlineCarStereo
Great service sometimes a wee bit slow on shipping. (not bad though).

for the 1000d i dont agree with a HO alternator .... we put one into a civic , with 2 caps and it ran perfect... no Headlight dimming nothing ... it does draw a ton of current . dependson what you wanna run the 6500d is a great amp as well and you will only get about 3db more outta the 1000d roughly all things being equal. with the 1000d the HO alternator isnt gonna hurt i would say get it ... always better to be safe than sorry ... and you needs at least 0 gauge to push it ... nothing less.. we played with one with 8 gauge, 4 gauge and 2 gague... the 8 was funny as hell.. the amp motorboated soemthign fierce, the 4 it wasnt that bad, 2 wasw better but 0 best ...

Cranking..

You didn't get any dimming because the 2 caps were preventing it by stabilizing the voltage. It was dimming.. but not with bass hits.. it would slowly and almost unnoticibly get dimmer and dimmer untill you're running too low a voltage where the amp will cut out..and hopefull no damage will be caused to some highly sensitive electrical components in the car.. like the ECU!!.. but what you were doing to that poor car was slowly draining the battery. Never look at something and guess it's "ok cause there's no dimming".. Grab out the old volt meter.. rev the engine to 3k RPM's.. check the voltage going into the caps..if it's less than 12.8 volts.. you have a big problem... What shop d you work at??.

Cheers

Certified installer.. Or learned from the shop you work at?.. Does your shop take the Scientific approach to high power installs or the trial and error appraoch?.. Not to knock on you or aything.. but the current draw of an MTX81000D will kill a civics electrical system within a week if it's cranked often.. but then again.. who the hells ears can take that badboy cranked?
