Price question: subs
I was looking around for some subs (interested in Infinity) and found the Inifity 1242W 12" subwoofer at a price of ~$80. Is that a good price?
Thanks.
NOTE: Don't come and rant about Infinity and that this other kind of sub is better. I am sure I want Infinity.
[EDIT] They are the Infinity Reference REF1242W 12" Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer.
Thanks.

All I can say, from hearing tons of other infinity products (basically all but those subs), is that it should be great for the money.
Price for those in 12" is usually $100 so thats a good price

It's actually Circuit City that I saw these advertised at $79.99... I did not see anything about a buy one get one free... will check more though, vietfob714.
Thanks for the reply, diskreet. Will let you know when I get it. I'm gonna try and build the system myself... from the box to the wiring.

Good luck building the box. if you need trunk ideas, check out the diy in my sig. I did a custom trunk layout, with access to the spare tire, and it was pretty easy.

The MSRP at 109.99. Circuit City sometimes runs the bogo offer but if your only gonna use one does it really matter? If you use both you need a 600w 2ch, i just dont think its all that practical.

Hmmm
Maybe I'm gonna get the 2 10's...
I want bass but not a huge amount and still nee my trunk space so...
Thanks for that great DIY diskreet... I'm thinking about doing that. BTW... one simple question...
If I have a box, can I put things on the trunk (is is still a usable trunk or just a waste of car-*** space?)
Is the sedan's trunk width the same as the coupe's? (question about the DIY)
"Countersunk pilot holes"?
Is the trunk's interior color the same as in the coupe?
Thanks.

Was checking the subs...
Crutchfield has those subs, 1040w $59.99 each, two for $89.99
But they also have the same subs but double coiled... 1042w, $89.99 each, second one free...
Stupid way to try and grab you like stupid, right?
Double coil sounds like it's better... is it?

the a single dual can be wired to either 2 or 8 ohm, and if you had two you could wire them to 4 or 1 ohm. The svc's i think are more popular cause they are easier with wiring, you dont need a big buck amp. If you get two tens look at runing 500 watts to them.

Read until your eyes bleed. Two channel amps are best to be used with a 4 or 1 ohm configuration. Monos are best with 1 or 2 ohm. If you are starting from scratch it really doesent matter what route that you take, just make sure your **** is as compatible as possible.
