Advice on wiring

I'm running a 1000w Amp to my 15" sub and I was wondering what awg wire you guys think I should use... its 1000w rms ... i'm running 12 awg right now and its not that loud so am i using wire thats too small? Help me out. Thanks.

12awg speaker wire? that should be fine

i just checked mine... its actually 16 awg... so u think thats the reason?

are you referring to speaker wire or power wire? I'm assuming (hopeing) it's speaker wire.

12 is plenty. Check your ohm loads and ohm stabilities. (Sub, Amp)

sub is @ 1 ohm... amp is 1 ohm stable... i'm pretty sure its my 16 awg... i gotta go find me some 12 awg and redo it...

Don't expect a world of difference, it might be noticably a bit better, but not night and day. Look into more likely causes.... your box being a major one.

leaks are probably causing the lack of output. Was the box designed using the speaker's specs? You can also try swapping the speaker leads, sometimes having your subwoofer out of phase with the rest of your speakers will sound better.
