Just wondering if anyones tried fiberglassin their subs in the trunk pocket (by the tail lights). Needed some space in my trunk so i got rid of my box and tried this.
And im not done with the face, so dont tease! They sound almost the same as my mtx ported box but its a bit more... punchier? Hits harder to me. Anyways off to another question. How much is this mtx amp on the top?
it says 8100D on it. Ran a search and got crazy prices of 3-500 bucks. Is this true because i just found it in my cousin's closet (hes in iraq and said i could have his stuff). I was gonna pawn it to buy a jl 500/1. Whats better for my MTX 7500 subs? =)

in my previous setup i glasssed 12 inch kenwood into the PS corner of the trunk just like yours, I loved having a nice low end but still keeping most of my trunk. I ditche that setup and built a ported box to try it out, sounds great, but its about 3 cubes and im getting tired of not having a trunk anymore. Once the weather gets manageable ill probably go back to FG. You have any in the process FG **** you'd be willing to post?
not really sure about the value of that amp, but its a solid unit. You better hold onto that thing

the 8100D has more power than the jl 500/1 according to the specs from MTX.If I was you I would install that one because the amps from mtx are normally way under rated anyway.
you can read the specs here

I have had MTX, Phoenix gold and Jl audio now. but bang for the buck is MTX all the way and hey you got it free

Well I have a JL Audio Stealthbox with a 12" JL Audio sub. I haven't put it in yet but it goes in the corner pocket by the taillight and its fiberglass. On more how it sound you might ask member "A03"... I have found some of his post helpful about this kind of set-up. Here is the latest post (post #4)... http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...&highlight=A03
I hope it helps a little...

=) Thanks for the input on the amp, i think ill hang onto it then. As for the enclosure, whats this mean? lol Keep in mind im a newbie when it comes to fiberglass lol this is only my 2nd creation.
And as for you: I redid my entire trunk floor with 3 pieces of 3/4" MDF and carpeted those pieces. Your prolly thinking of that crummy stock carpet. You could fiberglass over the carpet but then you'd have issues gettin to your spare tire, thats why i divided my trunk floor so the middle piece comes out without removing my subs.

oh lol sorry. hrm... i got only a "mid-way" shot of my first one.

And i just started on the other one last night but its almost complete so, sorry lol. Here

two layers of fiberglass, sub woofer ring/flush mount ring, 3 or 4 wooden dowles to support the sub rings by hot glue, body filler (aka Bondo) to fill up the back and make it smooth (not nessasary) and then a t-shirt pulled tight over the entire box and hot glued. Thats where im at so far. I guess since ur interested ill take pix of the next steps i do lol maybe tomrrow. anyways, off to bed. peace!

not too shabby
next time when your stretching the shirt over the front, watch that you dont get any seams on it, itll save you alot of time when it comes time for paint prep. Also when im covering an enclosure I like to stape it around the ring, usually on the inside and then stretch it around to the back and glue it on the back side. Doing it that way will cut down on the amount of wrinkles and imperfections.
