audio setup im goin for..any suggestions?
well lately ive been thinking of gettin audio stuff for the car and looked around, asked, and came up with this.
Alpine 9855
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-8mijBJ7...0&I=500CDA9855
Fronts w/ Tweeters:
6 1/5's Polks:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-y3rTEkz...00&I=107DB6500
Rears:
6 x 9(still havent decided which ones to go with but deciding either Polks or infinity)
Any suggestions are welcomed for this section
ill eventually get an amp to help the speakers and mayb get subs but not sure yet. wat do u guys think of this setup right now? im not sure how good the alpine 9855 are but my friend has it and he loves it cause you set the low, mid, and high ranges. suggestions are welcomed. thx
most of the time ill be listening to techno or that genre with bass, so i would like a bit of a bass to be there. i sometimes play rock and rap but half the time im listening to techno.

thx for the first response. yea i really didnt like how the polks sounded when i tested them out at tweeters. they sounded a bit muffled even listening to rap and having everything like treble up. wat sizes you think i should go with? i was goin 6.5 front 6x9...should i go with them with the infinity?
If you're looking at the Infinity's you should look at amp'ing them...Infinity speakers love the current...
Also, if I was you I'd skip the rear speakers altogether and look at a small amp & sub instead.

^rofl...im not gonna pass up on the rears cause i want to hear everything. most likely subs arent gonna come till like years after gettin speakers. but ill take up the amp tho. you guys suggest 6.5 front and 6x9 rears? again thx for comments and suggestions
I have those Polk dB6500's and trust me, you will need to amp them. They are not as beefy as the pic's suggest (the magnets are quite small). I ran them off my Alpine and they sounded OK. I've heard they sound WAY better with an amp. I'm in the market for a 4 channel right now for them.

i too will suggest the idea of spending your rear speaker money on even an inexpensive amp
you can get some kenwood or profile amps that will do the job for you on ebay for dirt cheap.
kappas are good with their highs, but they are very lacking in the midbass department if you don't get VERY meticulous with your install (deadening, amplifying, door treatment, etc)

I wouldn't call him dummy, he's one of the most educated, people on this forum when it comes down to audio. Maybe even the most educated...
BTW, the polks suck! I had them up front, amped with 100w/channel, and blew them with gains at half on my amp. They were OK, then I used them as rear fill, but I wasn't all that impressed. Took them out of the car and bought myself a set of MB Quart comps. Those were pissing all over the polks.
From what you are saying I guess all the SQ enthusiasts that run front stage only are stupid....hmmm...
For 169 dollars I could recommend you at least, 2 or 3 comps that'll BLOW THE POLKS away...

jees can you guys read? ive said nothing about you guys who only run fronts are stupid.....thats your decisions not mine. I want rears nd ive mentioned it several times b.c i dont like to have half of a system. you guys do wat you guys like i dont judge yer decisions nor flame you. anyways no more of this stupid non-sense.
yea ive heard the polks nd they seem to really bite the dust when it comes to crispness but im guessin they were shooting for more of the bassy side. i might just get infinity kappa 6.5 fronts nd see how they are with the stock rears then change the rears out to something else but not sure wat size.

kappas should be better, but If I was you, I'd try these out.

its not Mb Quartz, its Mb Quart.
They will have much stronger midbass than the kappas, as for the highs, most likely just as bright, but they won't hurt your ears... They'll sound really good if you amp them. I only heard the Kappa Perfects, and I really disliked those, no midbass whatsoever couldn't really call it bass, highs too high...etc.

the only mb quarts worth buying are the higher end ones.
the alpine type x and type r components do pretty well for their price
also the jl xr and tr sets are decent.

I had the premium MB Quart, and those sounded really nice, especially if I ran them active. The only quarts that were better are the Q series, which were too expensive for me at the moment.
I really don't like JL Comps, but that's just me. From what I know, the mids on the jl xr's are made by vifa, or copied after vifa. I believe the tweets are too.
I only heard the Type X in a sound room and wasn't all that impressed. Type Rs, I've never heard so no comments on those
I spend way too much time on this website

I used to be an infinity freak too. Had the perfect speakers, perfect subs, and the 7541a amp....
Turned out they weren't the s*it that I thought.
Much better stuff around the net for the same price or less. I still run their subs though, gotta love the Kappa Perfect VQ. Plus my 2 12's used to rattle the damn brain like crazy. Not alot of overhang either, but I would ditch them like there's no tomorrow for 2 idmax's.....
Eh, once I get my new car, I'll see if I'm gonna run the Perfects or not. Might save up a few more bucks and get some Hertz or something... I'll be in Europe, so I got a bunch of nice brands to choose from...hehe

I'm actually going to school over there, leaving the us at the end of march, beginning of april. That's why I'm selling the car. Most likely I'll be buying a golf or a seat leon, something made by vw... Should be easy to work with the audio. Never heard about those subs. Are they comparable to XXX??? Thanks
