Polk DB690 and db6500 questions. How well do they fit?

I've finally blown out the stock speakers and I'm looking to get my speakers replaced all the way around in my 2001 coupe.

I'm looking at the DB690s for the rears, but every where I look says they don't fit in the coupe. A quick search on this forum (and on google) shows several cars have them, so obviously they do.

My question is, how much finesse had to be applied? Does a simple 1/2" spacer work, or does metal have to be cut? I have the stock trunk springs (I have the Honda OEM spoiler, and with that, I believe upgraded springs?), and I am not interested in removing or cutting them if that matters.

So tell me fellow DB690 owners? What did you have to do to get them installed?

My second question is with the db6500s. Do the tweeters fit into the stock sails? How much finesse has to be applied to get them to fit?

Thanks for all your help.

u will need "finess"/slight modification for both to fit... U might have to trim the tweeter pod to make the new tweeter fit. The rear speakers shouldnt be that bad. Just bottom mount them instead of top mounting them so that u wont have to cut anything or you wont have to cut as much

the db6500's will need spacers to fit for the door locations. the tweeter is a direct fit as well...if you use your factory pod/pillars.

EastBayStuntN: Thanks for your input.

How about the db690s? Can anyone share direct experience with their installation?

the db6500 comps will not fit in the front. I had them about a year ago, but took them out and used them for rear fill. you need a spacer, or do it the ghetto way and cut the door and use a hammer. that's what I did way back...haha

btw, If I was you, I would get something else. DB's are not exactly the best for the money. for a couple dollars more, go ahead and get some CDT components up front.
