I was thinking about doing that with my Mac Mini, I just lost interest after figuring it was nothing more than a cool toy to have in a car, lol.
The Mac Mini is a great compact design and perfect to fit in a car, though something like a PC would probably be more practical, especially software wise.

compare my mac mini beside my external dvd burner. Its the same height, but my external burner is longer.
btw, I'd rather have a mac mini over a pc in my car any day of the week.
Once you go mac, you never go back.

Mac OS is a great alternative to windows if linux, unix, etc is too hard for you. And since OSX is unix based you get all the ease of use of a mac, with all the stability of a unix os.
If I got a laptop I would go mac probably.
But for home I have linux for daily use, and windows to serve files to my xbox 360 and to game in.

Thats a cool project but I would also rather do pc like someone else did on this site. Mac may have intel but I personally would never buy an Intel computer
I just need to the money for the FX-57
(and maybe 5 gigs of ram if there was no money limit[Pointless i know])

phuviano nice monitor! I'm rocking a custom built pc from myself, AMD is the way to go. AMD A64 FX-57 San Diego. DFI Lanparty MB, 2G Ram, Dual BFG Tech 7800GTX Video Cards, Antec 550W PS, Sound Blaster Audigy ZS 2, and a Sony Dru-710A, Thermaltake Case. A Dell 5150 Laptop and a new MacBook on order.
Don't get me wrong, i love Macs and work with one in class everyday (I'm a 3D Animation Major) But in a car i would much rather have a PC.

Its probably better that you got the iMac G5 rather than the one with the Intel Core Duo since the software needs to be made to run on an Intel, older software doesn't work on the new Intel Mac's. Its probably going to be several years before the G4/G5 is phased out and not supported anymore.
I also wouldn't want to be the beta tester for a new Intel Mac, all new hardware in these machines probably means all new problems
Love my Apple though, its great.

All the software to date is Universal, and now Apple has released a logo on things telling people its Universal and can be used on Mac and Intel based CPU's. I think they have been doing this for awhile, because they have been planning on making the switch over.

yeaah, the G5 imac w/ student discount isn't bad, 1.5 Gig of ram upgrade and 160 Gig harddrive, webcam, dvd burner, etc. I love it. I got it just three weeks ago, just before the intel one came out, but I'm keeping the one i've got.
This is such a cool install. I want one to put in my car. Being a mac user for 3 years now i have noticed that most PC based apps. run very well as Apple versions, things become more and more compatable each day and OSX is such a great operating system it rarely ever crashes and has not lost speed since the day i bought it.

I have a powerbook g4, could not be more satisfied.
runningo ne Mac OS X 10.4.4 (8G32), works like a champ. I think I have had like one or two crashes in the 18 months that I have owned it. That was before tiger.
Also like already mentioned it never slows down, or gets filled with viruses, or what ever most pcs seem to do.
