Front Speaker install - WT@#$%?
Front Speaker install - WT@#$%?
Yesterday I went to install some new 6.5" speakers in the front doors of my civic. I removed the door panel, removed the old stock 6.5" speaker and then saw that there's no way in hell to install a new 6.5" speaker: there aren't even any holes in the sheet metal that you could screw into! There are three huge square holes where the "tabs" for the stock speaker snaps into--and that's it!
Is butchering the old stock speaker to use as an "adaptor" the only way to install new speakers?
I'm at a total loss, and any advice/help would be greatly apprecaited.

if you did some research first you would see that a spacer ring is needed to install aftermarket speakers into the civic. There is no adapter or direct fit speaker besides the stock ones. The ring can be made of MDF or ABS plastic

My question, is even if I have a spacer how do I mount that to the door when there aren't any screw holes in the door to use?

most of todays cars dont use the standard 4 point mounting that aftermarket speakers use. it the same reason that most cars have radio that are built into the dash... it so you dont install aftermarket parts without real difficulty

Yup, u can buy them at best buy or some place like that. Then as far as wiring is concerned you can either just hook up or get a wiring harness

Guess I'll just try gutting and using the stocks as a spacer and if that doesn't work, then it's off to get some MDF and some very long screws...
