Remote Start is coming out ASAP!
i am actually looking into getting the compustar remote start installed in my car(manual trans). What can I expect to pay for the install?
I do not mind doing the little ritual if it means saving my car from taking off.

my old shop manager did that. he had the viper 791 and he didnt realize it was in gear and he remote started his si. It trys 3 times to start. 1st try hits customers car. 2nd try hits news stand. 3rd try hits the furniture shop next door.
Q: If there was a small child near your car when you started it, and the child was run over, who would be liable? The remote start company, or the vehicle owner?
I got an automatic, so remote start might be in my future.

Crack kills... But then again... So do I...

I thought it was illegal in most states to install a remote start in an MT. I know here shops will actually get fined if they are caught installing on an MT.

their are drivers up in the north where its iced (Antarctica) where cars could freeze over if the vehicle is never started within x:xx amount of time. im sure their thanking the creators of remote that also have the feature of auto timer (so the car will automatically start every x hours).
consider the people who also want that luxury (getting into your vehicle when its warm/cold) and convience. take the thread starter for example, he was in a big rush for the christmas holidays...im sure their was a time where he/she was in a hurry and had the time to remote start his/her vehicle when exiting the mall doors and by the time he gets inside his/her vehicle, the car is already idling at 1.5k rpm.
for the rest of you remote start users, e-brake. always have it up whether your on a hill or just parked in ur garage.

i dont see how the car started, and moved, when it was turned on in gear with the ebrake up. you can start a car w/o clutch and hit the gas and go to a very jerky start but i cannot see how it moved with the ebrake
my sister has one and i got to use it the first few days she got it. in PA, during a snow storm. its a automatic car so it was safe, but I still would never buy one of these. They are dumb to me. but she loves it. so its just personal preference. i myself do not want one at all. she wants one on every car she drives now

Apparently by your statement, you don't have a remote start so go get one and tell me that its not worth it

Legal for Autos and illegal for manuals in most states, cuz it could do what happened to this guy..... start going places w/o u. Why do u think that places like Best Buy and Circuit City will NOT install a remote start on a manual and neither will alot of shops....???

I don't know where you guys get it's illegal for manuals. There is safety relays so it doesn't start in gear and all the shops around here install it in manuals. If a shop don't put in the relays well then it's theirs and the owners fault. Remote start is one of the best inventions since sliced bread. Heat it up in the winter and A/C in the summer.

If someone does accidentally leave it in gear, the e-brake should stop it. If you don't use the e-brake, then serves you right. You shouldn't have something like a remote start anyways
