Multimeter on VDC to check remote wire, should be +12v
Connect an RCA to a multimeter on a low range VAC setting and play a tone at a high volume

well if your amp does not power up it is your remote wire, and if it powers up with no sound it is prob. your patch (rca)
and the remote only has power when the HU (deck) is on
if you want you can take a wire and jump from the +12v (batt) and the remote wire terminals and see if it power up, thats another way to test the remote wire thru the process of elimination
good luck
