Question Pioneer Ipod Adapter

I just got the new video Ipod. I have pioneer deck, I was wondering if anyone is using the pionner ipod adapter and how is it? is it worth buying? or should I just go the cheap way and get an fm transmitter.

thanks

I want to know this also for the alpine addon. Ive read that the new ipods have a diff plug but Im not 100% sure on this, if that is true then it might not work.. contact pioneer or apple and post your findings here..

i paid like $90 for my ipod pioneer adapter on ebay...It retails for like $140+ I think. In my opinion, $40 would be too much for what it does. It charges your ipod and allows you to play your songs by playlists, artist, album, genre, etc. There is no easy way to search for a song or artist though, you have to keep scanning down the alphabet until you find what youre looking for. It sure beats an FM transmitter, but It's not much better from a 1/4" headphone jack to RCA's to plug into the aux. input.

i have a 3rd gen ipod with my pioneer ipod adapter which works fine; but it doesn't work with my nano so i'm guessing the video ipod wouldn't work either if i had to buy a new one if my 3rd gen broke

anyone know if when the ipod is connected to the adapter can i control playback from the ipod i would rather do that, that wya i can scroll through songs easier. im going to mount it somewhere because it plays videos too, and i think it will connect too its dock connector.

nope, the ipod displays the pioneer logo across the screen and says "ok to disconnect" other than that, it wont let you do anything.

by hardwiring it, i think he ment get RCAs and just jack it to an AUX plug. FM does suck, and i suspisions were correct, the new ipod plugs are diffrent and will not work with the current external boxes that are provided with pioneer and alpine.

This means IPOD NANO and VIDEO WILL NOT WORK WITH THE IPOD ADAPTERS

Couldnt agree with you more, I'm very dissapointed with the interface that pioneer chose for its adapater. if i could do it again I would've just used the rca inputs and worried about charging it in my house

I had the Pioneer iPod adapter. It blew *****. I also installed the Alpine iPod adapter to a friends deck. It blew less ***** but was still not as easy to control. Your best bet is to purchase the Belkin cup/iPod holder and then the Belkin charger with the audio-jack on it. I then purchased a 12v accessory socket from AutoZone and then tapped into the factory 12v accessory socket behind the dash and plugged the Belkin charger into it. Then turn the volume on the charger all the way up and run a 1/8" jack to RCA to the input of your deck. Then run the iPod socket out of one of the holes in the dash for fogs, etc, to the cup/iPod holder thingy. This works GREAT because it keeps your iPod in visible view and can easily be controlled even with a standard. It's also great because the volume on the iPod does not control the volume of the stereo 'cuz the audio is going through the charger plug not the headphone jack on the iPod. Also, when you turn off your car, it stops charging the iPod, so it won't drain your battery. And when you turn your car on, it turns on the iPod as well because it's like pluggin' it into the wall. So all you need to do is press Play and voila!!! This is BY FAR the best solution for iPod's and doesn't need to be brand-specific as far as stereos go!
