snailshell fits in a civic
just letting you guys know that a p4s snailshell for a 15" xxx does fit in a civic. i built one this weekend for a guy on sounddomain and it turned out great, it took a little bit of trouble to get in the civic but it does fit. i had to take out my trunk floor (3/4" mdf) to get it to slide in. i got pics but i am having problems loading them onto my computer. and if anyone wants one built i will do it or aaany other type of box. btw my car is an 02 sedan

seriously, though, this is kinda an unneccessary post... i mean, if i can fit 62 Memphis 10"s in a Chevy Celebrity station wagon, 1 15" in a snailshell should fit in a 'Vic... just my $.02 (even though it was unneccessary as well)
well this is not a celebrity station wagon forum so who cares, your post was unnecessary. and it "should" fit in a vic, i am sure honda designed the trunk just for that.i was just letting people know that might want as snailshell. i got some pics of it in the civic but am having trouble getting them on my computer.

That's not a snail shell enclosure. It's a transmission line enclosure. Primary difference is that this is not a snail shell shape. The reason that this enclosure (made popular by companies and shops, some including Virtual Technologies(now defunct) and Sound Sensations in Marietta Ga's wavebox) is effective is because it is a wave guide system where the guide reverses thephase of the driver's rear output, reinforcing the frequencies near the driver F's. They tend to be larger due tosize and length of the line required by the design. Benefits are extended low end response. Drivers usually suitable for transmission line type enclosures are ones that have low Qts, Qes, and Fs.

The best snailshell I have ever seen is a cochlear design used for home audio for a single 12. It's on the net somewhere, and is black and huge. It also highly looks like a snail shell, minus the color. All glass too. Nice *** enclosure, but won't fit in a civic, or any other smaller car.

...again, sorry i was a d!ck about it... it was 2 a.m. and i was a lil blitzed, and i have a tendency to talk $hit... my bad... i also edited my post above cuz i'm no longer doubting you...
in retrospect: AWESOME job on the box... cuts are perfect, good seal, props on the countersunk screws... +1 rep for the info...

no problem , i know i d!ck about it too, but you were leading people to think it was not a real snailshell. and do you have l7's? i was wanting to do two 15" l7's in about 3.5 cubes a piece, i have come up with a design that will fit this in my trunk, but was wondering if it was enough volume for l7's? going to power them off a modded bd1500 ~1800rms. my friend said this was not enough power for two?

yeah, i'm running 4 S12L7s off of a pair of modded KX1200.1s (~1600 watts each)... i'm running them in a 4-chambered sealed box, and it's somewhere around 8-9 cubic feet of airspace... it's mostly fiberglass, so i'm not 100% sure of the box volume...
anyway, are you going to run sealed or ported?... holla if you need any help designing a box or anything, i'd be glad to help ya out... check Kicker's web site for recommended box specs...
and as far as the amp issue is concerned: i'd say the bd1500 is perfect, even if it wasn't modded... the S15L7s are 1000w RMS / 2000w peak, so ~900 watts to each of em should be enough to slam without overloading them...
good luck with your setup... holla if you need any help with anything...
