can anyone tell me how to remove the gold trim piece around the auto shift ****, and if there are any wires i need to disconnect to get it off

in the earlier ones, like my 01 the center trim piece with the P,R,N,D,D3,2 is built onto the shifter itself.
He wants to know how to get that off maybe?

i have an 01, the silver peice that surrounds the shifter, just pulls off. the prndd32 thingy is it's own peice, that is bitch to get lined back up if i say so myself

I went off this, and when it came down to it being a auto instead of a manual, take the 2 screws out of the front of the shifter, then it'll slide up (careful of the grease) then the silver surround should pull right off, u might need a small flat blade. but it'll put right off.

the entire center consol needs to come off first. then you can pry off the trim piece with a screwdriver since there are four clips holding it on.
