Question Gotta question on wireing???

Yeah...im really new at this...but i got a question for any one that can answer it.....
How much or how many things can you have running off your 12 volt supply outlet????.....Currently... i have three...
1) 9 feet of EL wire
2) A radar detecter
3) Two Blue Leds
Each off these are on a switch but i was just wondering if it is bad to have em all running of the outlet?? i just tapped into it with one wire then wirenutted the three wires with it.....everything is grounded to the frame somewhere....and i was hopeing to add more to it as well....but i dont know if its safe....Is it possable to overload it???
Can i blow a fuse or anything???? i really have no idea

I'd move some of that into the fuse block. Especially the radar detector since I'm sure its always on.

first off, take every wirenut you have in your car and throw it in the trash. Wirenuts belong in residental wiring only. Solder, tape, and heatshrink is the best method, but crimp caps will work as well. The cig lighter outlet is fused with a 10 amp fuse, but just to be safe I would put a fuse on any line that you added to the car. Those three items are fine being on that circut. EL wire and LED's barely use any current at all

what u planning on adding after that? For just the detector and led's, you are fine. u don't need to fuse it again, the cig circuit is already fused. and really, throw those wire nuts in the trash.

don't worry about the led's, they use very little power (exept if you plan putting led's everywhere in your car) . What is EL wire? as for the lighting under dash, what kind of lite u putting in? If it were me, i'd run a 12 gauge wire from the batery and fuse it as close to the bat. posible with a 20 amp fuse, and use that wire for all your little projects in the car (depends on how big you go), because if keep on adding and adding, your cig. circuit won't be enough to handle all that.

EL is some sort of neon wire.....i dont think it takes much power just like the leds.....which i only plan for 4 of so far but who knows....maybe more ideas to come......and hwo do i go about wireing to the battery??? do i just go straight off the battery and run it into the car,,,,,and how do i get it into the car??? i dont have to drill i hole do i??? and as far as under the dash,.....i dont know yet....i got these "scatter lights" (not to sure on what they are or look like) but i habe to see what that looks like......thanks for all your help.....i really have not a clue on how to do any of this????

connect a small pice of 12 gauge wire to the + terminal on the batery, then connect a 20 amp fuse to that wire, then conect another piece of wire to the fuse to go in the car. To pass the wire throught the firewall, no need to drill, there is a rubber gromet on the passenger side with a bunch of wires going trought, use a fish tape or a coat hanger to fish the wire through. Now that the wire is in the car, branch all your stuff on that wire instead of the cig. circuit.

Solder isn't necessary, ever. No one needs a connection that secure in a car, as it's all about preserving simplicity. I'd be more inclined to recommend marine grade butt connectors. They'll have gold plated crimp connects, and you can warn them to chrink the tube around the wire for water tight performance. If you have solder lying around, then yes, it's good. But it's never necessary. Rabbit has a post in Diskreet's therad that goes into more detail, but you get thegist of it. Most people want hings easily removable in a car, solder doesn't make it as easy.

what about tapping into the car's ecu. I would definatly want to solder those connections to minimize voltage drops when connecting into low level signals.
