subwoofers
Hey whats up guys im looking into getting some subs very soon and as soon as i find a good price but im wondering what would be best to get here are some choices if you have some let me know of course
1) one or two jlw6v2 12inch
2) two 12inch Kicker L5
3) one Kicker L7 12in or if i can get a good price on one a 15
4) some type of RF Punch or Power sub
Im looking into going to shows and i want bass that i can listen to loud but not hurt your ears you just feel it and hear it.. i know it all depends on how you power it to but I read really good views on the JLw6v2 but than i heard the Kicker L5 is good too so let me know. If anyone out there has hook ups or anything on subs with amps hit me up.

Well 2 W6v2s are going to POUND. I have 2 10" W3v2s and all my friends say that there is a point where my system is too loud but its ok cause bass loud enough to hurt your ears and shake your teeth is awesome.
if you go 12" W3v2s, especially in the JL HO enclosure, it should be plenty loud enough.
The W6s are alot louder so going with them will be overkill unless you need a better sub for shows since judging is retarted anymore.
The only ther input I can give you is I considered getting RF subs in the same price rage... until I heard them. They suck. Their top of the line P3 or whatevers pound but are not nearly as clean sounding as a JL sub of the same price.

Out of the one's you listed, I'd go with the JL's. They might be a tad more pricey than the others, but the JL's make up for it with their SQ. The L5 subs, while a cheaper alternative to the L7's, aren't anywhere near the quality.
I would, however, look into some other brands. Image Dynamics IDMAX subs, Adire's Brahma, Resonant Engineering's xXx all come to mind. They are all cheaper or the same price as the JL, and perform as well.

what about crossfire , xtant , Kicker cvr, phoenix gold.. those are other options that are not as pricey as some you listed and pound just as much
I have a SoundSplinter RL-P12, and i couldn't be any happier. Awesome punchy SQ, but this thing can get pretty damn loud, even in small boxes. At $266 shipped to cali, it's a steal. http://www.soundsplinter.com/
Kicker subs
Ive got 2 kicker 10's CVR series from '04 maybe kinda small for what you want,
but the hit pretty tight and loud. 200 for the set in box, wired parallell, they can handle about 800w Max. email me if interested, jbeal198@ yahoo.com

Pimp my ride on MTV? LOL that was pretty funny.
Go with the JL's... they will work perfectly if u power them correctly. BTW, what amp/amps r u looking at/have?

i would recommend a pair of S12L7s in a sealed box, pushed by a KX1200.1 or similar amp (the KX is about $800, so if you're on a budget, check out the JBL BP1200.1 and the Hifonics BX1500D)... the sealed box is PLENTY loud enough for deep bass, etc., but still allows decent SQ (not "boomy" like a ported box may sound)... and it is smaller than a ported box, so you have a little more trunk space (believe it or not, that actually matters to some people that like to do weird $hit... like grocery shopping and stuff)...
anyway, just my $.02... holla if ya need help with picking an amp, installation, or anything like that... hope this helps... good luck!
one of the more recent setups... threw this together for a weekend party at the lake...loud as fvck, but nice and clear...

damn thats a nice setup you got there.. ya i know a guy that can give me 12inch kicker L7's for like 170 bucks so i might go with two. and he said he knows the amps to push them (im not to logic on that yet so im trusting him cause he makes customs systems for a living) and also on my truck space i might put my subs where the spare tire goes with fiber glass so i can use my trunk if needed.. it will help me out when i hang with my bro cause he is in a wheel chair too and if i need to throw a body in there haha jk

4 S12L7s and 2 KX1200.1s for the low end, 2 KX600.1s and 12 Kicker coaxials/components (3.5", 5.25", and 6.5") for the mids and highs...

go with the w6. My friend has a 10" w6 and it is hard to stay in his single cab truck. But then again its all in how you build and port your box. I have seen to 8" out bump 2 15".!!

I once again just remingind you that the JL HO enclosures are second to none. they are amazing for balance of sq and spl from the subs that come in them. i am only speaking from personal opinion but most people, minus serious audiophiles, agree that my system is awesome for the price. I love my W3v2s and W6s are that much better!
Mike....listen up. I have personally owned, at one time or another, all of those subs. L5's are ****. L7's are good if you want hard hitting bas, but horrible for sound quality. All the Rockfords Ive owned Ive enjoyed and they last forever. However, out of all the subs I have ever owned...the W6v2 is BY FAR my favorite. Hits harder than a **** and one of the cleanest subs out on the market right now. I dont care what anyone says about these subs.....the W6 is an extremely awesome sub. They are however a little pricey, but worth every penny. They are also very picky as far as amps go. When I had both of mine, it took 3 amps before I found the right one...which was the JL Audio 1000/1. This is however an expensive amp. If you want clean sound, that hits hard....stick to JL. You can never go wrong with JL. I would still have these subs if they hadnt gotten stolen. Let me know whatever you decide....Ill hook you up on some good deals. Just remember...the more you buy....the more I can hook you up.
Now...for my suggestion. Go with 2 JL W6v2. 1 is definitely sufficient....but if you plan on going to shows....2 looks better. haha. And, if you just want the bass there to turn it up every now and then...2 will be PLENTY of bass. For power....stick to JL amps. Dont cut corners with the power to those beasts. Go with a single JL 1000/1 or 2 500/1's. Sure....W7's would be way louder...but theyre WAY more and they require WAY more power. And they need massive boxes which will way your car down like no other. Stick to the w6. Trust me, when I had this set-up....it was loud as hell...ask anyone who ever heard it. Just make sure you hook it up right...which I can help you with. Next time we meet up....we'll talk more about this. BUt this info will give you something to ponder on.

Don't know if ya'll know it or not, but the w6v2 is almost identical in every aspect to the w7. The w6v2 has been dubbed by several reviewers as the budget w7. I forgot what the two minute differences are, but they are nothing that would effect performance too much, just makes them cheaper. If you really wanted to spend that much, why not get a single 13w7? You'd save a little money versus the pair of w6's go a little lower and pound just as hard.

Assuming you're talking retail here, average retail on a w6v2 12" is somewhere between $380 and $425, depending on where you shop. A single 13W7 can be bought retail for around $700, a significant savings in that department. For the amp, whether you get a pair of 12's or the single 13w7, you'll still, more than likely, run the same amp. So you'd spend the same amount of money. The box size wouldn't be any heavier than a dual 12 w6v2 box that s properly built and braced, so that's not a factor, and being as I think he's going for the show aspect rather than go, weight doesn't seem to be a primary issue here. Regardless, either will suit your needs just fine, just depends on the look you want to acheive. And where you're getting your 13W7 dimensions baffle me. The sub, at it's greatest span is only 14 inches wide. The bolt hole width is 12.7 inches. And it's mouting hole width is 12.5 inches. It's a 13 inch sub with a nominal diameter of 13.5 inches. Don't believe me, here are JL's specs for it: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...p?series_id=10
Another thing to consider, and I'm going on weight based on the HO wedge designs here, I can do a drver weight comparison as well, but the enclosure including driver for the 13w7 is only 40 lbs more than the prowedge for the pair of 12w6v2's. That's the weight of a 5 year old. If weight is an issue, never let kids sit in the back seat, or anyone for that matter. For comparison driver by driver, the 13w7 weight in at 52 lbs, while the 12w6v2's weight in at 19.4 lbs each. That's 38.8 lbs, a 14.8 lb difference. That's like a backpack with a few books in it.
More than likely, you're going to get the 1000/1, assuming you stay brand minded, to run either, 500 watts is within the optimum operating range for the 12w6v2 and 100 watts is the midpoint of the optimum range for the 13w7. So again, I can't stress enough that that would be the same pricing.
It's all about finding what look you want, and what would sound best to you. The 13w7 won't kill your suspension though,m several members here have them, and J187 also has the pair of 12w6v2's, so browse around and see what look you like, and let that decide.

Mike here is my friend and we hang out on a regular basis....and Im pretty sure I know what he was looking for. Im not trying to argue with you here...Im just saying....weve talked about what he wants and from what he's described to me in the past...a 13w7 would be overkill. Im not trying to argue with you....and I was told that the 13w7 mounts in a 15" box.....whether that was right or not Im not sure, I never REALLY looked into it since that sub doesnt spark my interest.
btw....mike, if you wanna hear that set-up...let me know. My buddy (the one with the 6 spd V6 accord) has 2 15" L7's that pount REDICULOUS!!! Ill let you hear it if you want so you can hear what overkill is..haha.
