I've installed and used both of those units, I like using the D1 since it has two drives in it, you can leave the nav disc in and still play a cd or watch a movie without switching to the nav disc if you need to recalculate a route. Plus the bypass is less invasive for the d1, but thats all im goin to say about that.

bypassing the N2 is a pain in the *** even for experienced installers, bypassing the d1 is trivial. I like the N2 for the removable faceplate, but I like the D1 for the dual drive setup. They both look great in the civic's dash. I personally have an N1, but I think if i couldve I wouldve gotten a D1
