Speaker Tinsel\woven wire
Anyone have the slightest clue where to buy speaker tinsel or woven wire? I started a thread awhile back about how my speaker tinsels keep breaking and how i cant fix it, I've tried solder wick because it's woven, but the main problem with solder wick is that fact that it's made to absorb solder...then the solder moves too much with the cone, and the friction causes it to break, what i need is some sort of woven wire that that use on tinsels at the factory so it wont absorb any solder whatsoever and move freely with heating up and breaking, any ideas?
Matt
edit: Here's a pic of what i could get....sorry about the quality, kinda of a small space lol

i clean all solder off everytime and use fresh wick everytime too...i think i've redone it about 25 times now lol.....it's pretty obvious by now i will not give up til it's fixed hehe

i thought of that to, but the prob is it needs to move fast, I'm sure u've seen how fast and how much a sub moves, it's the wire that goes from the connector to the cone....

tried that too, it moves to fast and breaks it.....and it's not that i have anything turned up too loud or anything like that, i listen to rock so not really that many sustained tones, just the kick drum...i've had to fix it atleast once a day (sometimes twice) for the last 2 weeks....I've got soldering it down to an art now

I've never dissected a tinsel lead, but from looknig at it, I'd imaging it's a piece of woven wire with no core. With that in mind, if you could possibly find some high quality (meaning it'd conduct well) then maybe you could use wither a piano string (one of the thick ones of course, not the ones that are thin like a hair) a guitar string or maybe some picture hanging wire. Possibly find one with some sort of coating such as gold or copper. Don't know, just an idea.
i've tried two pieces of solder wick in parallel and it worked fine..i purposely made it extra long and also wrapped the wick w/ heatshrinktubing for extra support...you have to be good at soldering so you wont get a cold solder joint or too much solder onto the wick...
the original tinsel also had heatshrink around it too...

well either way i bought a new one, i am very good at soldering
there was no heatshrink on the leads when i bought it, i tried wick, normal wire, wick wrapped with no solder, wire with no solder, made it longer, same length, u name it, i did it.
I gave the sub to my friend who is having the same problem while i am pointing and laughing about it

then added some shrink tubing to help keep the wire in tact. Just a suggestion.
