Wiring RSX Heated Seats
Hey guys,
I have a set of 2005 rsx heated leathers in my car and im working on hooking up the heated seats. What im planning on doing is getting the factory rsx switch from honda and mounting it in the mounting spot next to the cigarette lighter. My question is if there is any sort of resistor i need, or if the seats have an auto shutoff for when they reach a certain temperature. Also wondering if it is a simple postive negative hookup to the seats, and if so what wire would be positive and what one negative.
Thanks in advance
Landin

I dont think you would need a resistor, but im pretty sure its RELAY operated. Just like how our Defrost switch Activates a relay for the rear defrost vs Directly powering it.

^^ aight i know a little about wiring, but not much. IM thinking of wiring it to a source that only has power when the car is in the on position. (so that if i accidentaly leave the switch on the seats wont drain my battery)
So if i wire from that source where do I need to put a relay?
Edit: I found this wiring diagram but i have no clue whats goin on...lol maybe you can make sense of it.

I can tell you straight up Landin that Freddy .. was going to say helped, but well I'm a noob and he did most of the work - which I still need to hit me back on..
In any event, mine are currently wired to switches running off the cigarette lighter. They work - though an "issue" I'm having is thinking about their usefulness now. The cig lighter doesn't get power unless the key is in the ON position - unlike say my fogs which are wired off the ignition coil. If I ever get around to it
I'll perhaps look in on the EL wiring and/or if its available to wire off the coil moreso. I want my remotely started car to have nice toasty warm seats for me too
Here's a quoted directions that 909 helped out with initially -
True, they aren't 2005 seats - but I only imagine them to be the same

My whole intention was that I knew I was going to upgrade, or change to a different style seat so the heated option was wired to go into another vehicle with as little effort as possible. I believe what Adam did eventually hard wired the seats to a lighted switch, you'd have to ask him for more details.
It's extremly easy to hook up the seat heaters. I'll try to keep it as simple as possible so as not to cause any confusion. If you need more details, feel free to ask me to elaborate. Bear in mind this is all off memory, so if there are any inconsistancies let me know.
On the underside of the seat you will find 3 plugs.
One is yellow and leads to the Side SRS on the side bolster. Mark it and leave it alone.
Two plugs should remain.
One goes to the bum heater, the other goes to the lower back heater.
On each plug there will be two wires. One is pos, one is neg.
If you group wires, make sure they have similar shielding.
I simply cut the plug, and exposed the bare wire.
Added a length of wire. You can solder if you you have an iron. Or you can buy those crimp on ones from Canadian Tire. In either case, the purpose is just to add a length of wire.
What wire to buy? Wire is wire... and at 12V it shouldn't matter too much as long as its the same or slightly larger than the stock wire.
Tap it to a 12V source. If you pull on your 12V Acc jack panel there is a perfect spot. Just splice the stock connection, and tap there.
To splice, just carefully remove the wire shielding, exposing the bare wire. Take your new wire and wrap it around the exposed stock wiring. Seal the connection with electrical tape. Should end up with a "y" looking connection.
You can add a Switch anywhere along the negative side of the line (from the seat to the neg @ power source).

once a car is remote started, anything that operates with the key in the on position will operate as well as long as the starter is hooked up properly
