no music playing...Need help with ALPINE plz
Yesterday on a road trip my friend and i were listening to some cds. We put in one of her cds, and it was working fine. When we tried to switch cds, it would not eject. I already know the alpine 9853 has the manuf. defect where sometimes it may not eject, but once i hit eject, this time the display read error which it usually does not.
During this time, the tuner/radio still worked, but not playing the cd. Eventually, I did get it to eject. I put in another cd, one I had always used before to see what happened. And it worked.
But, the next time i turned on the car, about 30 min later. I heard a kind of popping noise (not the first time ive heard it in my car) and none of the speakers worked, and the amp didn't turn on. BUT the headunit still came on.
So yea basically my music isn't working and the amp doesn't come on.
I'm thinking it could be a fuse. I recently replaced the front left speaker so I just now checked to see if the + wire was touchin anything but its good.
btw only the subs are connected to the amp, the speakers are currently going off of just the deck.
sorry if the post is kind of jumbled, im at work, lol but can anyone help me, couldn't seem to find any info with the search. Thanks.

sounds like 2 differnet problems... your cd player being one and the amp being the other, just a coincedence. the amp might have a short on the speaker leads and may be protecting. make sure the amp actually has NO power, look for a protect light or something.
I just burnt my tongue

this happened to me too...i have a stock system and when i put a cd in it works and when i try to eject it wont and will just keep saying error like the cd is slipping...i figured out how to get it out by pouding on my dashboard as soon as i hear it start to move than it has a higher chance of catching and ejecting...i got tired of cds anyways so i dont even use them anymore...iPod with itrip is what i use...soon a video ipod with an itrip
thanks for all the info. i've came to the conclusion that its the deck. i still have one of the older defective 9853s so im gonna get a reship and hook that up (im gonna try to get a 9855 shipped
for the inconvenience, its worth a shot)
ive checked all the speakers and nothing is grounding out. so i'll jus have to wait for the reship on the deck to see if that works.

Are there any insiders with Alpine on the site? I've been thrown around to 3 different phone numbers to contact for my defective headunit. I've called the manuf. They told me to call the Florida Service Center. And I've also called Herman Electronics.
(5) Alpine - tells me to call other numbers for assistance
(3) FL Service Center - tells me to go to their website
(2) Herman Electronics - only ships parts
The numbers above represent how many calls I had to make, whether I was disconnected (rep hangs up after hearing i need a reship) or needing more information/further assistance. And thats within the past 1.5 hrs.
All I need is a reship. I work for an online customer service company myself and deal with reshipments of defective units, but this is getting ridiculous.

thank god the head installer at best buy hooked me up. i was drivin by one day and even though they had already told me i had to go through the manufacturer, i thought id jus try one more time, so i went in and talked to the head installer n he said he'd jus swap it out (even knowing it was well past the 30 days). finally got music and good sound again what a relief
