Mounting a PDA
Mounting a PDA
hiya
I have a Honda Civic (UK right hand drive)
I want to mount my PDA
Its quite heavy so the mounting must be strong, i use it for SatNav.
I used to have a window mount (long arm with rubber sucker) but that used to fall off every week.
Could people post picture of their mobile phones / PDA's mounted in their civics. Also any sujestions/coments welcome.
Thanks

what you can do is put a piece of velcro on the back of the unit and on your dash and stick it that way...
or get an earth magnet and some some double side tape
it may look ugly but it would work

I bought a PDA mount for my MP3 player with a sucker but don't like the look of it stuck to the window and I wanted it in front of my gear lever so I "suckered" it to the bottom of my ashtray. The ashtray base is a matt finish though so I needed to give it a couple of coats of clear lacquer to make it stick.
Get the PDA mount off ebay like the one below - they have good suckers and don't worry about it being too heavy, my iRiver's fairly hefty and it holds that fine.

yer, thats like the one i have now, but like you, i didn't want it on my window, the sucker is very strong but after a week i'd have to re-attach it to the window. Might look into your ashtray idea....
I think my honda has about 6 cup holders and no phone holder.... go figer

you could get a pda bracket and then drill hole in it an put 2 small screws in it, then drill into the dash and faster the screw from behind if you really want it to not go anywhere.
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

if you have the time/money/patience, it would look awesome if you fiberglass a new docking station for the thing in your car, that way you can also charge it while driving!

i dont know if they have them over in the uk, but where i work at we use bracketrons to mount everything in cars from ipods to sat tuners to pdas. They can be modified to mount just about anywhere.

Never seen anything like bracketron in the UK before - pretty good idea though. Only on ething I wanted to be able to do with the mount is to be ablet to completely remove it leaving no clues it was there. Don't like the idea of screwing into the dash or something.

Something like this might work better for you. http://xmradio.com/catalog/product_d...type=Accessory
it would have to be modified to hold the pda, but could probably be done
