general system questions (h.u, speaker installation, subz+amp + mayb more)

ive got a 95 civic sedan with a sony xplod cdx-l490b deck but im going to replace that with a pioneer deh-p4700mp or 6700mp.

now bcus my parents bort the sony xplod h.u and they are clueless about car audio, my question is can i use the aftermarket mounting kit & wiring harness to use on the pioneer or wud i need new ones that are specifically made for the pioneer decks?? (i assume all the installation aceesories i need is the kit & wiring harness but if i need more plz inform)

also, to remove the sony xplod i need release keys but my parents lost them, is there any way i can still remove it with tools or sumthin?? i cant seem to pull it out n i dont wanna take it to a installer wen i cud do everything myself n save sum money, thanks

Im not sure of the other deck mounting up in the old setup, but the locks can be opend with a knife or something equvalent. I know it sounds ghetto, but it has worked before.

u will have to rewire it to the pioneer like the guy befor said, the harness is only used so u dont have to cut into the cars factory wiring and easy to replace the stock hu when u want to if need be. as long as the new pioneer is the same din size as the sony u shouldnt have any problem, use a knive or sumthin to release the cage, its just thin metal so its easy to bend back if u dont get it right and just rip it out lol..

yup i knew id have to re-wire myself but i still cant seem to pull the h.u out hahah ive put a knife in top n bottom, slid it left n rite, into the sides, up n down but doesnt seem to do anythin so im just going to leave that for a pro installer to worry about

neway im goin to replace the speakers in my doors with 6 1/2''s. b4 i ask anythin, issert normal that civics came with a stock 6'' in the right door n a stock 4'' in the left?? cus mine does, jus wonderin cus it seems honda fort id b dumb n that i wudnt notice, but doesnt matter since im goin to replace em

k, cus i got 4'' in left, id need speaker brackets/adapter plates?? jus need to know if thats the correct term for wat im lookin for n if there are any other names for it - cus wen i went to buy speakers for rears at a retail car audio store n askd for wiring adapters/harness the guy sed there was no such thing, i was thinkn hmmm ok then but since i didnt need em at the time i walkd away - bloody foolz who dunno anthin bout car audio, then agen he cudve been right hahah

hmmm ive rambled enuff, basically:
1: i need speaker brackets/adapter plates, correct n any other lingo for em??
2: shud i get speaker baffles while im there or issert overkill??

wow........ 4 inch? 6 inch? never heard of those numbers before.......... if you have a coupe, you have 6 1/2s in the front and 6x9s in the back........ sedan equals 6 1/2s all around.......... you might need spacers it depends............ go with alpine type s's and you wont they are the best bang for the buck..

thnx

spacers - same thing, diff name for speaker brackets/adapter plates??

speakers baffles - worth gettn??

also in the future ill be gettn a pioneer tsw306c (12'' sub) and wud like to know wat kind of amp i wud need to run it (800w, 1000w, 300rms x4, 250rmxs x4 blah blah etc etc). keep in mind that i wud like to have my fronts running off 2 channels so a 4-channel amp wud b preffered BUT im not planning on winning comps or tryna let the whole block know i have a sub, jus clean, clear n loud for me n my passengers sooooo wud i b betta off (finiancially) if i just let all 4 speakers run off the deck (which will b a pioneer deh-p5750mp) n gettn a monoblock amp?? if so, wud also like amp specs for that

also, im not sure if its relevant or not but, im not the type of person who (only in a car) likes to have thier music generally 'in front', bcus i go clubbing alot i guess im another one of those who like to b 'surrounded' by their music like ina club. dunno if this will help decide whether i shud amp the fronts or rears/have only my sub amped (therefore obviously ill b gettn mono amp) but giving more details about wat i want in my car audio is alwaiz betta for u guyz =]

your best bet is too use 2 channels for the component speakers in the front and combine another 2 channels of the amp for the sub..... therefore i would reccomend a 4 channel amp...... itll be a decent sound system.....

that sounds good, but ive alredy bought coaxils for fronts so i figured amping them arnt worth it - since their coaxils & 35rms but if amping them is still suggestd, then plz do so. yes i wud amp compenents like u sed joecivic but rite now i dont have the funds to do so

ive decided for now to - unless suggestd to amp fronts - to jus have all 4 speakers run off deck then add a sub+amp in future. soo, assuming i still go for that pioneer tsw306c, shud i get a monoblock amp or 2channel amp to power it?? i dont knoe much about amps (250wx1 @2ohm, sumthin@4ohm, sumthin@sumthin, 14.4v, 12v etc etc & all otha amp specs im uneducated about) but i figured bcus 2-channel amps r generally cheaper, shud i jus bridge 2 channels or wud buying a mono be worth the extra money. my budget for sub+amp+installation equipment needed(including box+dynamat)+installation is $1100
