sub box help

i was wondering what is the best box for a kicker solo-baric L5. it says it can use either a ported or sealed. i was wondering what the best one would be. also what do you prefer on subs ported or sealed? and finally does it make the big of a difference in sound. im new to subs. thanks for your help

all depends on the sound u want. with that sub sealed will give u the best sound, u can make a ported sound as good but with out experience and knowing how to tune it sealed is a fail proof way to go. but it u want it to hit lower and get louder a ported is the best thing. 1 thing to keep in mind with those kickers is if u want them to work properly u wanna put it in the biggest box possible. around 4cf or bigger per L5 will work best. they will work in smaller but to work the best bigger is better with kicker subs. i personally like ported boxes but ive also been building them and know how to tune them, be carfull with the tuning and make sure u have an amp with subsonic filter cause with ported u can make the sub peak at a certain hz based on the car the tuning of the port also makes frequency's lower than the tuning drop off and can make the sub sound like hell so thats the reason for the subsonic filter. ive rambeled enough

I've got an idea. Why not consult Kicker and see what they recommend for that sub? They should have specs for the optimal box on their site. www.stillwaterdesigns.com
